One last chicken to catch; I think I'll wait til it's dark and they are roosting - much less stress for everyone. I'm glad now that I put those colored bands on the legs, I can identify identical chickens by different colored bands! (Small flock going to new home tomorrow).

So Himself and I just finished making the "pickle" for the hides we are tanning. Did I tell ya'll about the coyote he skinned yesterday! He left the head on with the ears, and the muzzle but no teeth or eyes. And, it was not a bad pelt either; sometimes coyotes can be pretty mangy, but this was kinda nice. Then we tossed in a whole bunch of bunny skins - we have three big buckets of hides now. They stink a bit so they are out on the deck (he offed four rabbits today too; busy man; all I did was sell eggs and cook).

Oh, and we racked the 10 gallons of wine into carboys. The mead is perfection, the persimmon needs a bit of aging. Both are really nice though.

Hey T HI - glad you got the computer and can join us more often!

I'll be glad when all these basement birds are gone (tomorrow) there are 4 cockerels in there now - it's going to be just wonderful tomorrow at 5 am!

If we got rid of all the unions, it would help . . . bloodsuckers!

thou there are deficits in politics of unions in general the premise of Unions are sound and have benefited everyone in the workplace with many of the work rules in our world. I do not believe in generalizing because there is some good and some bad in all things. eliz

While it could have been the shrimp I have never had a problem with it before. I am guessing it was something in that yucky slaw or the nasty SnS road kill in the crock pot. I am still having problems today from what ever it was.

My DD has issues with any fresh vegie...first her mouth gets tingly & itchy & later tummy ache & feels like the flu.
IF she eats cooked veg there is no problem.
It has something to do with some kind of acid in some kinda vegies.
That sounds like more your problem.
Eat any fresh vegies ?

I was setting up my brooder because I'm expecting eggs to hatch tomorrow or the next day, when my brother announced that I had a chick! Two more have pipped. I'm glad I didn't wait!

OK, Corned Beast done, taters, carrots & cabbage steaming...going to have myself a few fingers of single malt with a water back..well deserved after I gutted & cleaned 2 coops, cleaned the van, washed the windows (car has more windows than this cabin LOL ) and did laundry, cleaned poop trays, locked down a mess of eggs, collected more & now I get to pack 3 boxes of eggs to ship tomorrow morning...which makes a BIG MESS with shredded paper & crap everywhere so then I will vacuum, and collapse.

Fun thing today.
My pullets 2nd gen OEs bred back to the Marans are laying fart eggs.
Check this out:

The big one is the Mother of the pullet laying the small egg.

So the Blue Am (top) is bred to the Cuckoo Marans (right and this a light egg) which the resulting hen lays the Olive egg (lower left) and this hen is bred back to the Cuckoo marans to get a pullet who laid the fart egg in the middle.

COOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!
