Our chicks are currently in our garage in a brooder, with a heat lamp. This morning as I was getting ready, I could hear them all they way into my bedroom. Chirping very loudly! (I usually NEVER can hear them from this far away)

I ran out there thinking maybe an animal had gotten in somehow...or maybe the lamp had fallen?

NO....one of them caught a moth and the others were chasing it around the brooder; trying to make him share. LOL They literally were doing figured 8's around the box. I almost was late for work, since I stood there watching them for so long.

Mikeyb Surgery was 3 weeks ago today. It went real well. Doctor was happy. Have some pain but not alot. just can use the left arm at all yet! Had my first P/T yesterday. Still looking at mid-june before I can go back to work.

Good news that the surgery went really well. Recov/rehab will take time and dedication.
Sorry we didn't get together to talk over chicken coops. Since I can't do too much (copd, etc) I have to rely on #1 son a lot. Any hoo, the coop is somewhat based on "little red chicken coop" found on BYC in the "coop" section. It also will be a storage area for my yard tools. I went to take pics yesterday as we were framing it out but the dang battery died. Oh well, I'll get a few pics and post if I can figure it out. (old camera, no instructions and the operator is a little dense at times.)

Okay, had to reboot computer. Dumb thing.

Wanted to say I went to Feed Store and happened to walk by the chicks. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself and we now have 4 Golden Comets inthe kitchen. They will go into my "layer pen" (which is just the pen for house eggs). I read up where they are good dependable layers and can tolerate pretty cold weather. Sounds like a good bird for my area.

Okay and I want comments:

We just had a Big R open up. They have an incubator it is a styrofoam, still air.....by Little Giant. It is only $50. I was wondering what anyone thought as this one for a hatching incubator? If it is a NO...I need to know. I will probably make one if the Little Giant is a no go. I a working on my cabinet incubator right now. Got parts orderded. Cut the hole in the door and have put plexiglas on. The silicone doesn't seem to hold all that well so we are going to pop rivet it together. Took out the top element. Try to work on it this weekend...but DH has a fly fishing thing to go to...I think he needs to get his priorities straight and finish my incubator.....

If it's JUST for hatching, you can make one for way cheaper than that. And that's about all that bator is good for, if that...I hate that thing, I think it's a piece of KRAP! (sorry, not mincing words today...lol)

Sorry I've been gone so long.
Mom was not well. BC.
Anyways, BY GOLLY...I THINK I FINALLY HAVE A LAVENDER DUCKLING.
He is SHINEY SILVER with a HINT of PINK and a splash of purple on the bill.

So pretty.
After 30 ducklings and a whole lot of yucks. (I forgot to boost their diet. Long story.)
Anyways, I am excited and thought I should share.

Is that the going rate for silkys? Ive not bought a bird in 20 years.
That is more expensive than wild Salmon! The darn thing weighs almost nothing.
It was not free range or organic. Just plucked and frozen. LOL
So thought I should share that too.
CL, I hope you are selling yours for a good price.

Your mother loved you more than my mother loved me. I wasn't allowed to play with Kool Aide. Come to think of it, I never got to have a white cat until after I was married.




Maybe there was a reason that I was only allowed to have orange boy cats after all.

Oh I was a young Mother when I dyed the cat.but my aunt dyed her tea cup poodle a different color each time she was trimmed, and carried the dog around in her giant purse !
