Look at what showed up with Mama Kate this morning!!

From my research I was pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to sex them for about 3 or four weeks......but it is pretty obvious that the barred wings are boys! Three boys and one girl, looks like!

So I am pretty proud of myself, I have never had any baby chicks of ANYTHING hatch before! So neat!!
Oh those are mine, right? LOL I have actualy been having dreams about chickens and Peacocks! I will have some when I can get ahold of some. Congrats on the babies!
Quote: Oh no, I am sorry! Maybe they will come out to be with your other chickens in the morning. Or through scratch out or some kind of nummy treats and maybe that will bring them out. Hope you get your hands on them soon.

Dave (Velvettfog) arrived last night with his huge trailer! Working all day with various helpers on 2 new runs for my chickens. I can't wait to let my legbars move into their new digs. should finish the roofing and wire tomorrow and hopefully work on Robins chicken coop tomorrow.

WOW! Carol, that's a huge run! I thought mine was big...Looks great though, can't wait to see all your pics. Glad it's all going well, I know he was a little worried about the last project!

DAWN - Ricky is the absolute sweetest little boy! He lets me hold him, comes when called (I have never heard of a chicken learning his name in under a week and coming when I use it!), and cheeps like crazy all day long, He was really lonely and missed you yesterday so I spent a lot of time holding him on the ground in the run. He is going to make one great boy for our girls! They are not nice to him yet but I know they'll come around. Hopefully he will catch up in size too, right now they've got about 1/3 body size on him! I still love his hairdo, never get tired of seeing it. He's also happily roosting with them at night, even though they chase him during the day. I gave him a little hideout to get away from them, and extra food/water in the coop in case they don't let him get to the main food/water in the run.

TAMARA - Princess is adorable. She is homesick and has such a mild, sweet personality! Tonight I felt bad for her as she was left all alone in the run while everyone else went to roost, so I brought her inside to snuggle a while. Well, since she's a chicken and all, she didn't exactly want to snuggle if she wasn't being picked on, so she kept trying to get away and roost in the bookshelf. Did I mention she likes DH more than me? She kept trying to get away, just to go see him! Quite the persnickity little Princess if I say so myself :)

Nice job on the coops Dave. Is Dave, Velvet Fog?

Sorry Teva, about the chickens flying off. If you know where they are can you mount a search party at dusk?
Hope you get them back.

Russ

Well.. Mel Torme is the 'real' Velvet Fog :) I just like the name.

I want to make something very clear --- there is NO WAY that I could have gotten all of Carol's work done by my self in under three days. Her DFIL and DH did about 90% of the work on this run. All I really did was cut the walls and nail them up. They did all the tear out (there was an old rotten run and that apple tree you see was badly overgrown), then leveled the site. I helped install the walls. Then those two guys put up the rafters and the roofing. Tomorrow all that I have to do is hang two doors (one human, one bird) and put up the wire, and this one is finished.

I've really had a good time, made a bunch of new friends, and I really appreciate everyone's kind words about my work.

Dave

Oh those coop and run pictures are just so nice looking. Makes me jealous.

My run is falling apart from the beating it took over the winter and DH has promised to enlarge it when he rebuilds it. And we are pulling the coop out that isn't really big enough, and the birds will have to live in what is currently just a shelter. We're tearing it apart and rebuilding with a paver floor to resist rodents, proper roosts instead of 2x4s screwed to saw horses, and a good door to secure it.

Just found out that most of our kids classes did not have the kids make Fathers day gifts, because not everyone has a Dad..... But they all got to make Mothers day gifts!

My oldest son didn't make a Father's Day gift. Must be for that reason. I thought it was odd.

CR - I don't know how you handle bees like that. That would scare me to death!

Velvet Fog - Wow, another amazing build. Great job.

Teva - I hope you get your chickens back.

Jessica - I fell off a curb this evening and gave myself a nasty shiner and concussion. I can't believe the first time I'm going to meet you, I'll have a huge black eye.

Love your coop, BTW.
