One last comment about the Chlorine / Cancer / Poison issue. What do you serve your chickens water in. Galvanized waterer. Wow did you know those give off zinc yes it's claimed un-healthy. Or maybe you use a plastic waterer. Guess what ! !!! Is it FOOD GRADE? Well of course not because it is just for chickens. And how about the water pipes going to and in your house.

OK an now I will be gone for a few dayz . the only sign of me will be 2 ribbons of glass leading toward where I am going.

And of course we all know there is nothing bad in the air that we breathe !

Yes, but the point would be to not to move to Mexico City. Do you even get me at all? An ounce of prevention......

Actually, I am just totally thrilled that you are replying to my posts now, instead of just referring to me in pronoun form, like in the past.

Have any of you in Western Washington lost chicks to a snake before? Do I just have internet paranoia? There are lots of post about it, but I see mainly from the south, right?

I have never seen a gardner snake large enough to eat a chick. A small egg, yes, but a chick, no.

Even a bantam egg would be hard to get down for most snakes in Western WA.

Now if you're in Eastern WA - it's a different story.

I've never made french milled soap, in order to make good quality you need to have heavy duty (aka expensive) presses.

Oh, ok, so I am guessing that a lot of homemadey "french milled, " is actually double milled or processed, or whatever, it's not the process, it's a machine? Bummer! One time I put tea tree oil in glycerine, ut that is the extent of my soapmaking. I have always wanted to make it with lye, but I lived in Idaho, and lye is illegal there because of methamphetamine makers, I am guessing.

Totalcolour I am coming in late on this but, to the best of my ability(reading glasses) I didn't see my favorite thing on the list - ICE CREAM - HURRAY!!

Thank you everyone for the condolences about my kitten Scar. Everyone around here loved him even hubby who is so not a cat person at all.

Yoda is doing very well today... yesterday he seemed a little depressed. (can cats get like that?) after all Scar was his litter mate and best play buddy. But Yoda is much better today.

Tomorrow I am going to predator proof this pen here somehow. Not quite sure yet how but I will definately get it done. Then I can get all 13 of my chickens and my 8 ducks to our new house. I actually miss seeing them and hearing them. Although I have gone over there everyday since the big move to get the final bits of stuff from the house.

Hubby is wanting to get a speckled sussex rooster for my ladies. because he just likes them. out of the 13 chickens 2 are roosters but they are meat birds and the 3 golden sexlinks girls are meat birds too. That leaves me 3 speckled sussex girls and 5 barred rock girls.

And landlady gave an incubator to keep. it seems to work pretty good so far. Only it doesn't come with a turner but that is ok.
