Waterer Ideas?

I have 12 chickens. I'm curious if anyone has any watering suggestions. I've got 2 of the 1 gallon waterers but they continuously knock them over & go through water like crazy. Any creative techniques or ideas are very welcome thank you!

Put them up on pavers to begin with, or get the hanging type.
Better yet, get nipple waterers or cup waterers for automatic systems. Nipples come in horizontal and vertical.

I purchased a "Brite Tap" waterer, and it's so trouble free, the only problem is to remember to check the water level periodically ! The bonus of these waterers is that they can be installed on anything that can be drilled ( or any rubbermaid cooler ) - so they "grow" with the birds.

My girls learned quickly, how to drink from it.



No waste, and no dirty water - ever.

I did google waterers and did see the nipples, but was worried they wouldn't work & the chickens wouldn't catch on. Chickchic9 I will definitely look into that! thank you soooo much!

They catch on very quickly. They tap at anything eye level and quickly realize there is a water source there.

ok wonderful! so make sure it's eye level. how many nipples do you recommend for 12 chickens?

I got a vertical system with 4 nipples and I think they recommend 1 nipple per 4 chickens?

We made this for ours. 6 weeks old and we can raise it as they get older. Caught on immediately.

I got a 200 litre blue plastic barrel and put four of these in it at around 12" from the ground. The water lasts for ages, with a little Apple Cider Vinegar in it to prevent algae growth.
