Waterer question. Are chicks just messy?

I have this cup/nipple drinker in with my 4 week old chicks. There is a clearly wetness in the bedding in front of it. I have brought it into the house twice, put it on a dry rag and watched at least an hour with no drips. But then again this happens again. Thoughts?

You have a cup waterer there too. That might be your problem, idk. I have leaky vertical nipples in my brooder right now and my Timothy grass bedding doesn't get as wet as that.

Was going to suggest this.
When I test my nipple waterers, I totally dry them off then set them up on a couple 1x1's to watch for leaks and see where it might be coming from. Did you try activating both by 'pecking' at them to see if threads leak?

But...
they do drip a bit when the birds drink, at least the HN's do.
Might help to put bucket on a concrete block, instead of hanging it, so it's level.

My 20 week old girls do that still. The nipples don't leak, they just like to make a mess! I think they play with them .
