New to chicks. I have 4 one-month olds and the EE, who otherwise seems strong, healthy & happy is having very watery poop. It makes a noise you can hear when it squirts out (yuck!). No blood and everything else with her and the others seems fine. I use medicated chick feed and electrolytes/vitamins in the water. I thinkI'm keeping stuff pretty clean. Any thoughts?

It it really hot where you are at? They normally will poo almost a water when it is super hot. I will direct you to the coveted poo chart:

I just love the coveted part :) Only moms and chicken owners would describe a poop chart in such a way

Thanks for the chart...

No, actually not too bad here in California...mid to high 70s during the day. They are stil mainly in the brooder with a heat lamp in the evenings and I turn it off when it's warmer during the day. I take them outside at least once a day to play in the yard and they don't seem overly hot or chilled. They seem really happy.

hmmmmmmm

Have you tried giving them some old fashioned oats? Something to solidify their droppings. Maybe give them a day or two without the stuff in their water..sometimes too much of a good thing can cause problems, too.

I could try that. When you say give them oats, do you mean cooked up like oatmeal or just dry oats?

Just dry oats, they will love them :)

I just reread your post...please forgive me, I read another post and put it together with yours.

How old is the EE? Is it just the EE with watery poo?

The EE is about 4 1/2 weeks old. Two of the others have very normal poo. The fourth has somewhat watery poo..but not bad.

At one point the EE passed what was almost just water....but it doesn't seems dehydrated or distressed at all. It's the most rambunctious of the bunch.

I'll try keeping the brooder a bit cooler and just giving plain water for a day or two to see if that helps. I'll also try the oats.

Any other suggestions/ideas? (Thanks so much!)

When I started feeding oatmeal, I also provided a small bowl of chick grit.

Keep us posted and let us know if anything changes :)
