I have a two year old pekin mixed duck whom had a daughter this year. She is of age and now he is trying to mate her like it's no one's game. We have four other females and mates them normally, but when he sees her he goes bonkers and totally singles her out. We may have to cook him up if this proves to much. So how can I bring the hormones down on my lovely oreo without castrating him? His daughter is a pekin, roeun, other mix she shows more rouen then anything. In fact, if we didn't know who her father was, we'd think she was full rouen.

Drake jail is about all you can do. Some times of the year is worse than others. You may just have to lock him up for a while.

Did you just introduce her to him? If you keep adding and removing her he will continue to over breed her. Leave her a few days and he should settle down.
Nope, been together for about a month or two. He chased her off rigorously at first. Then started ignoring her, now does what he's doing now. :idunno:idunno:barnie

Many on here have a separate pen for their drakes during the worst of mating season. And will pick on a certain females who knows why. I’ve heard say there’s a white drake and he is going after a non white female? Not sure how true that is since I’ve never experienced this in my flock.

Oreo is black and white. I've never heard that rumour but it sounds interesting. We don't currently have an isolation pen because it's being updated but he can go with the meat birds for a while.
