We ARE MOVING.....ALABAMA.. UPDATE pg.14

I think NC is just about perfect. Only better climate I can think of is South Carolina. Just enough winter to get you looking forward to spring, and no ridiculously low temperatures. Plus, summers are nice and hot - hello, watermelons and peaches! But not ridiculous Florida hot, and without the humidity. No offense meant to Florida, of course.

I just find NC and SC to be the "ideal" states.

Yes, I am basically advertising the Carolinas.

I thought SC was really humid?

I suppose if you live in the mountains of NC you would have lovely 4 seasons, but do you really get winter down on th Peidmont?

We are looking at the Carolinas, Virginia, TN, KY and surrounding areas.

But I hate extremely humid and hot weather.

I was born and raised in Southern California...it eventually got too freaky there even for me and I had to leave. Spent time in Wyoming, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, South Dakota and am now living the good WARM life in southern NEW MEXICO and we LOVE IT.

The weather is perfect 10 months out of the year and hot for 2. I didn't realize, until we'd left it behind, just how sad I was every year being housebound for weeks or months in some cases and fighting the snow just to run a quick errand. Totally depressing!

Give me the high desert any day. (Plus we are half an hour drive from being up in the mountains....the southern most tip of the Rockies are in my backyard.) We can be having 70 degree weather, take the kids up the mountain to go sledding in the snow and come back home to shirt sleeve weather!)

Ahhhhhhh......sigh!

OK, DH is looking at staying with the same company....they have openings in Oklahoma City and in Pratville AL.....

Anyone know anything about those places?

I was looking on the internet and OK looks really dry and I have been through AL very green....

Does OK have lots of tornados?

I'd go with Alabama. It is very green and hilly with lots of lakes to stay cool

Alabama has lots of tornadoes too in the springtime though..as does Oklahoma. I think Alabama has less though.

I'd go with OK. It'll be a cold day in hell before I'm ever convinced to live in the Deep South...

I live in Alabama so I'm biased. You c an graze animals ten months out of the year, we're a water rich state, we are apart of the tornado belt but do to the hills in North Alabama, we have fewer tornado deaths and touch downs than other areas.
