How is their temperament? I have 3 Ameraucana n 6 Buff Orps. Wondering how they'll get along.

My Americana’s are the most flighty. But the Marans are SUPER chill! I couldn’t keep them together though because my ‘Cana Roo is a jerk and tried to rip the Marans hen comb off!

My splash ameraucanas are pretty mellow except when I'm out in the yard. They join 2 of my Buffs and drive me crazy wanting to be picked up for neck scratches. They're a little witchy about it. When I put the first I've picked up down. I have to make sure it's not to close to me or the other 3 or she will get a quick peck from one of the other 3. But they're usually to busy pulling on my pants or pecking my boots till it's their turn to get picked up. Lol I acquired a 6.5 yr old brown ameraucana when the other 8 were 5 mos old. She was a little bossy at first but since it didn't do her much good She quit. Other than a couple thumps from inside the coop on occasion in the eve when their settling for the night they're all pretty mellow. Did you get your Her and as chicks or pullets?

Guys, she’s HERE!!! Killara Rae Sanchez.

Born on January 30th at 12:28 pm. She was 8.322 lbs and 20.472” long. AND, one of the Ameraucana gals gave us her first pullet egg, AND our Muscovy started laying again!! They say good things come in threes, right!?

That’s so cool! I wish my Ameraucanas liked to be handled, but I got them all as pullets as well as the Marans. I think I just got them a little too old and they’re set in their ways lol but looking forward to breeding them and raising the chicks by hand in hopes of having a handleable flock like yours.
