My Chinese White laid an egg last night. As exciting as that i, she abandoned it.

Is there anything I can do with this egg?

Is there any chance she's going to go back and sit on it?
Does she even need to sit on it?

Could this just be a decoy egg?

Is it possible that I can take it and put it under a heat to incubate it?

Also, she picked an extremely unsafe spot to lay. If she were to sit on it, she be in an easy spot to get snatched up by a predator.

Your goose won't set until after she has collected all the eggs she wants. She doesn't start setting as soon as she has the first egg.

You are going to have to do something about her choice of location. Either force her to stay in a safe pen or else fence in around the nest site she has chosen.

Try putting an open house on the island and arrnage so secretive sites with conifer branches. Then place straw in them to try and induce the geese to select one of these tempting areas as their nest.

Its not a bad idea to feed them on the island as it encourages them to use it and adopt the area as their territory. It also has all the advantages of protecting them from many predators and disturbance
