We have to get rid of our chickens!

Sad. As I've covered local news for a few years, one of the best first steps you can take is to contact your local representative. (Here it would be a city councilman or county commissioner.) Once he/she gets to know you and meet your chickens, this rep can be a great representative for you personally, possibly helping you wade through the legalize other commenters have mentioned.

Not true. I even logged out to check.

See if you can find out what the specifc complaint is. And also make sure you are legal.

True! Actually, in Tennessee, this kind of information is public record. If someone is going to make a complaint, they have to put their name to it. Keeps folks from making absurd complaints and wasting folks' time. So...you may want to go to city hall or whatever its equivalent is for you and ask to see the complaint.

Why didn't I think of that before? Hooray for RanchHand!

I am so sorry! What are your city ordinances? Can you talk to your neighbors to figure out who called in the complaint? Maybe if you can find them and talk to them they will have a change of heart. I can't believe they wouldn't come to you first.

Many people will not come directly to the one they have a complaint against for any of several reasons.

#1, they are uncomfortable with confrontation, or
#2, by involving a neutral party, they hope to maintain some degree of neighborliness, or
#3, they are concerned about escalation or retaliation

I am so sorry, I got two of my favorite chickens taken. Becaues, of the same thing. Then we moved so that we could keep the rest. But when i went to adopt the two that were taken away, they told me that they had been humainely put down.

Hope you can figure this out with your neighbors and not have to get them taken away, crossing my fingers for you.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. I looked at your page, and you have a very nice, neat and clean setup! I would find out your ordinances ASAP and see exactly what it states. Please post when you do find out.

Also, I hope that the tattle tale neighbors have the balls to come forward and talk to you face to face!

Good luck to you. I have a 3 yo son as well and I couldn't even imagine having to tell my kids that their flocks have to go
