We inherited a coop and small flock

Mom, nest and chick are relocated! Chick is eating already. :) I think mom may have mites? I have some DE I can dust under her wings but didn’t know if this was enough for one day. What do you think?

DE won't do nuttin.
Use permethrin, just stick pinches of the dust under her feathers wherever you can reach while she' on the nest, won't hurt chicks and will help keep bugs off them too. After she done hatching treat her again more thoroughly.

She now has a second chick! :) The other hen started hatching also may need another dog kennel! LOL! The dog kennel has been working great. Plenary of room for her nest, food for all and the chicks can safely walk around. Will try candling some of the eggs to see if we’re waiting on viable chicks. Thank you so much for all your help!

Good news!!! The chick is happily reunited with mom and all is well!

I’m including some pictures. The nests seem way too high for chicks (in my very limited experience)???haha. There are 2 broody hens, 1 more hen and 3 roosters. All seems peaceful when we’re there.

We’re going to build a new coop. May move this one up eventually for the extra Roos? A bachelor pad?
I don’t know how the chicks will get to any food or water. Won’t this one need water now. Not sure when hatched, over a day.
In those pictures I see four hens. What makes you think one of them is a rooster?

If you need more information on bachelor pads, feel free to check out my article: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/rooster-flocks.72998/.
