Lol. I have a Cannon powershot.
It frustrates me so badly trying to photograph birds.
it always wants to focus in on something behind the bird instead of the bird. I miss so many damn good shots trying to get the stupid thing to focus.
I miss point and shoot cameras sometimes.

Do you have the focus point set to a single point? Do you also have the focus point set to the smallest available focus point?

I have often heard Canon owners greatly disparage the Olympus DSLRs that I have and use.

Sorry, but it's true.

FWIW I have an appreciation for many "flavors" & colors of beauty. Just because it "doesn't turn my crank" doesn't mean I can't *see* the beauty someone else has a pulse raise from does a double take too.....

If we're talking woodpeckers, I've seen some Pileated Woodpeckers around the property up here in Maine... the Downies are more common, but I've seen the Pileated, too.

Well, we were talking woodpeckers -- I have no idea where the conversation will turn now that it's back to those pictures from a few pages back... it will go wherever the wind blows....
Or wherever the next nutter takes it. Whichever comes first.
