In the past, I often had this problem too. Weirdly though, having multiple lists can help. Long term list versus “do today” lists. Long term lists can be veeeerrrry long. That helps me not forget about bigger plans or goals and also strategize ways to break them into smaller steps. Do today lists should have a small number of acomplishable tasks. Also prioritizing what’s on the long term list (urgent versus just important) can help. I now have many lists lol.
