You can sometimes suffer hallucinations when withdrawing from alcohol--maybe from other drugs as well. I wouldn't be at all surprised. At least you recognize them for what they are. Some people believe them to be real.

All these substances are poisons that alter the functions of our bodies--all of them. That's why they work. It's also why people take them recreationally. Those that alter our perception of reality slightly can sometimes alter it drastically in larger amounts. They're processed through the liver and kidneys and there's only so much work these organs can get through in a day. As the extra poisons your body has been socking away in fat cells and wherever else it puts things to process later, come out, they will often cause the kinds of symptoms you've been experiencing, including hallucinations.

I'm no chemical dependency expert, but the way I understand it, many of these drugs also take the place of your body's normal means of making you feel good (such as producing dopamine). When you stop, it can take some time for your body to tool up and get back into production. Parkinsons disease can sometimes come with hallucinations--maybe because of the lack of dopamine? I'm guessing there, but the point is--drugs including alcohol poison you. When you're taking them, your liver and kidneys are up to their little ears in work so a lot of those chemicals get stored. They're coming out now and being dealt with.

Drink lots of water. Get some gentle exercise in, and some sunshine on your skin if you can stand it. (You may be photophobic, so be careful with that until your system is fully clean.) Stay away from junk food and sugar. Your system has enough to deal with. Drink lots of water. Then drink some more. Don't make yourself uncomfortable, but do stay well hydrated. Eat light, nutritious foods... things that are easy on your digestive system. Stay away from sugary stuff. Probably best to avoid overdoing it with coffee, too.

You are doing phenomenally. I almost can't believe how well you're doing. You've taken on an incredibly difficult task and you are DOING it. I can't possibly express to you the depth of my admiration. Keep it up. You're gonna be the old hat gal next time, helping someone else out of the pit and into the freedom of a clean body and a clear mind. ❤❤❤

@webbysmeme , I concur with @CindyinSD in that hallucinations are a product from toxins but, there is also well established stuff 20+yrs old stuff on lack of sleep in excess of 48hrs and its a weird place to be mentally.

while in the Navy I worked 2nd shift about 1/2 a year then 3rd shift over a year then 2nd shift for ovr 1/2 year again before returning to human-ish hours and all the while i slept routinely 3hrs a day. 9AM-12 Noon. I can definitely agree with the "glitch in the Matrix" experiences.

As for hydration, there is an old & wise scale to keep in mind. The color of pee is the scale. The more straw-like/ near clear in color the hydration is at its best.... everything else is, well, not the best.

For my knee I have modified a morning drink into a variation the fluctuates....
Key ingredients:
fresh squeezed lemon
turmeric powder
honey
ground ginger
Hot water

sometimes i add or substitute in:
juices, apple, cranberry, orange, fruit juices from Knudsens etc.
ginger powder
black pepper
cayenne
paprika
maple syrup
gatoraide powder
super green powder(forgot the plant name, this stuff is massively deep green in color)

as for helping myself sleep. long time experimenting found this works best.
classical music station on just loud enough to hear it over my breathing while laying down, so that when i rustle or move its almost not clearly heard.
laying on floor with either a rolled towel of small pillow under neck.
chair for calves to lay on so hip to knee are at 90* angle
washcloth soaked in cold water, then wrung out for folded over and laying across eyes.***
IF I have a headache then that is hot water and wrung out the same for the eyes.

i usually have to plan for 15-30 minutes that way... sometimes(not all) I can squeak out a micro nap this way... The goal is comfy temp, so if its even remotely too cool or cold then I have a blanket under me and one across to keep my core temp "just right" not hot. Don't need distraction of reaching a sweat. That's working the body too hard in thew wrong direction too.

Is wild bird seed the new toilet paper ? Just went to TSC, and they are out of ALL will bird feed with no idea as to when they will get more. Had to go to Home Depot and buy overpriced BOSS.

Hmm... I just bought 100 lbs each of soybean meal, wheat & barley, plus a couple 40lb bags of BOSS. Not sure why y'all would have a run on wild birdseed. 🤷‍♀️ There didn't seem to be any shortage at Runnings but I wasn't shopping for it so didn't pay a lot of attention. I think I'd have noticed empty pallets next to the BOSS.
