We Quit Cigarettes

When I came of age, Dad sat me down and told a lot of family stories that I'd never heard. Warning received loud and clear. He also taught me to tackle problems head on. I don't always win, but everyone knows there has been a discussion.

Happy St. Patrick's day! The bars are closed until further notice in Houston.

The note about the measles parties is interesting. Scary, but Mom did the same thing. Get all the kids sick, then get them all well. None of this passing it back and forth for 2 months.

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough

My husband had similar talks with our boys. More about using their heads and not getting caught up in the pressures of peers. Luckily, both boys are quite intelligent. They'll never be math wizards, but have plenty of common sense.

We weren't given much direction as kids. We grew up around it and when we were deemed old enough (not by the law, mind you) we were allowed to partake as well. My brother quit last year a few months before Mama passed.

And a Happy St. Patricks day to you and all! Our bars/restaurants are closed, as well. Butte's monster parade has also been cancelled. I'm sure there will still be plenty getting lit on the sidewalks :p

Parenting. Not for the weak of heart.

All of our kids have thanked us at one point for raising them the way we did. Humble brag. Appears we did something right. Especially when they tell us stories of their classmates and then look at us and say "thank you for being there". Not always easy.

@ShannonR these times will pass and you will look back with fond memories. Legos and all.

Parenting - we do the best that we can. Didn't have a manual as I threw away 'Dr Spock' the night I came home and the Princess had diagnosed our son with projectile vomiting. :gig We were lucky ours turned out okay too, and so far our grandkids seem to be growing into good people.

Maybe I should take a look at it. I feel like locking horns with somebody this morning!

Apparently someone reported the person I was interacting with as their posts have now disappeared. Nope it wasn't me. I just hit the 'ignore' button. It's a while since I felt the need to do that.

Wow.
Thank you for your perspective. Clears the air a bit.

Alcoholism runs in mine also (Irish with American Indian and history). So while we make light of it at times, it is a serious issue. All these items are serious. Applause to all who are battling and winning. Hugs to all that need one. Encouragement to those in need. The fight won't end, but that doesn't mean you should stop fighting.

So with occasional tiffs, but on the whole rollicking, they drew near the Neverland; for after many moons they did reach it, and, what is more, they had been going pretty straight all the time, not perhaps so much owing to the guidance of Peter or Tink as because the land was out looking for them. It is only thus that anyone may sight those magic shores.

And then one for @electrycmonk:
Why does Peter Pan always fly?
Cause he can Neverland.

@RUNuts Thanks for that joke..... I initially was thinking from a historic perspective then it hit me.... its a word joke. Because.... of 'Neverland-ing' eh?

For the rest of y'all the Peter Pan humour is a welcome addition....

I have a question. How on earth do you fill a metal chick feeder?

I am kinda freaking out. There are things I don't know!!! :he
we have one. I for the record despise this contraption. I have almost gotten (worse than) paper cuts from it countless times till i get the round feeders......

Most of Dad's I can not share on this family friendly site. :p

Mom: "Waste not want not"
"The pathway to Hell is paved with good intentions."
"Sing before you eat cry before you sleep."
"Whistle in the morning, and you'll marry a crazy woman." I should have listened. :p
but, but, but... Dante's inferno has ICE at the lowest levels of hell.... so go down and make snowcones then come up a few levels for a visit to the saunas....
