We Quit Cigarettes

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I'll be castrating him in a few days... they say it's best to do it immediately, but his little bitty bag seems to be empty, and his mama was looking at me funny while I was looking at him. Maybe something with more of a Scotts flair. :gig:lau:gig
I've always done it within a week or two on bottle calves that I've gotten. The younger the better, they don't bleed at all hardly and the procedure really is simple.

It looks simple. I watched a video (like half a dozen times) of some Aussie guy demonstrating it and I'm sure I can do it. The calves didn't seem at all traumatized. (If only they knew...) Easier than caponizing a cockerel except maybe requiring more robust restraining techniques.

Does it takes a few days for the testicles to descend in the the sac?
Do you band or just cut?

If they are small enough I was able to sit on them and hold them down that way. A second pair of hands helps but isn't absolutely necessary if they're really young.

I cut. It's done faster, you KNOW that you got everything, don't have to give tetanus until they are older if you cut. I haven't run into any issues with testicles not descending, you might have to hunt for them a tiny bit but they're always there. It isn't like castrating pigs, much simpler

... Well, this is fascinating conversation.
A bit disturbing, but fascinating.
I probably shouldn't be reading this while I'm eating lunch, but, well, too late now.
More than a little disturbing, I have been crossing my legs and wincing in pain every time I stop by here to see if we have moved on to a more suitable topic.

Like, dysentery, torture methods, chainsaw accidents, almost anything..
