hi I have a week old Silkie chick that I noticed now has a liquid brown stool . Is this diarrhea. I do not remember seeing it like this a few days ago. I am feeding him chick starter food that is Non Medicated and just plain water with nothing added to it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

It is not constant. Just happened to see it when I let the chick out of brooder and I was playing with him on the floor. The chick is acting normal eating and drinking too. Should I be using medicated starter food instead? I hatched out these 3 chicks in an incubator and had the eggs shipped to me in the mail. I do not have any other chickens.

At one week old, a tiny dab of very liquid cecal poop will fool you into thinking it's diarrhea. Go by the behavior of the chick. As long as it's active and eating, and you see solid poops in between these little liquid dabs, you have nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, cecal poops are normally very evil smelling. Unfortunately, it's in the nature of our chickens.
