Weird gum-like thing found in chicken poop

I don't even know what to look up to figure this out. My roommate found this in/on a pile of chicken poop.

Can you cut it in half and describe if it is fleshy or hard? Do any chickens lay blue eggs? Could it be gum?
the inside stuff was white and squishy. we do have chickens laying blue eggs. it did not look like gum since the inside was kinda white ooze.

update: fully taking it apart makes me think it was an egg shell or membrane type thing

Yes, I thought it was probably an egg membrane, so that is why I asked about the egg colors. Do you notice any of the blue egg layers acting lethargic or weak, or having a lowered tail position? If you can identify the hen, then watch for more problems. Calcium citrate with vitamin D a generic form of Caltrate available at most pharmacies and WalMart, is good to use once a day if one is having trouble laying an egg or shell-less eggs.
