My avatar is a photo of an Elephant I took in the Thembe Elephant park in the northern part of KwaZuluNatal in South Africa. These elephants are the biggest in the world.
The hen that the x-ray was taken of is now sitting again on a clutch of eggs. She is more broody than not and the best mom in the world. As we got home from the vet that day- she ran for the nest boxes and laid her egg.

weird raised crusts on top of my hens eggs.

I get those sometimes too. They're calcium deposits, at least that's what I've read elsewhere that they are. Nothing to worry about.

One of my chickens lays these gross Frankenstein shelled eggs, all wrinkly and thick. Because I can't sell them, I decided to see if they would hatch a normal chick. I put five of them in the incubator and not one of them hatched. I did the float test and they all sank low. I am thinking the thick egg shell probably doesn't allow enough Oxygen in for development.

One of my hens laid an egg with a raised letter "G", and another laid an egg with a raised "O". Anyone else have eggs with letters on them?

My Cochin falafel laid a funky egg yesterday and no egg today. I think she might be going broody. Go figure! Lol

Her strange speckled egg next to one of her normal eggs. The weird thing is that those spots washed off. >.< not sure what's up with that! I have my fingers crossed that her normal eggs will come back

I can see why she ran to the nest box! And cool, to be able to see elephants in there natural habitat, not too far from where you live.

Me too, after seeing all these wierd eggs. We aren't eggspecting any until August.
