weird rooster behaviour

my nearly year old rooster has now started to sit in my girls next boxes and male this weird purring sound anyone know what he’s doing?
nothing wrong with him i’m just curious

You know...I don’t know what this is but just the other day I went to check on my hen who just hatched some eggs and when I checked the nest, my silkie rooster was sitting in the empty nest and it looked like he was sitting on eggs which he wasn’t. I don’t know what this is.

He is checking out the nestboxes and is trying to convice the hens to lay their eggs in there. A good rooster you have there!

Some even enter the nestboxes and kind of "prepare" the nest digging a hollow for the expected eggs.
