Hi all, so my hens laid some weirdly shaped eggs! The second one isn't too weird to me. But the first one is WEIRD. It has shirt wrinkles and the pores are a lot more noticeable. Anyone know what it means for the hen if she lays eggs like these? Or have some similarly weird eggs to share? :p:pop

Is it more than one hen laying oddly shaped eggs all of a sudden? Do you offer then oyster shells? Sometimes weird eggs just happen occasionally. If something stressed them out that's possibly what caused more than one hen to lay odd eggs at the same time. It's usually nothing to be concerned about when it's a one off but here are a couple great links on weird eggs for you.

Lol thanks everyone for your replies! My girls are young layers so that would explain the weird eggs. XD These don't happen often, if ever so I'm not worried.

Nice link. I'll add one I like though I think Sumi's is better. I've now saved hers.

@thecarmiearmy I don't see anything particularly weird about those eggs. If you check out these links you can see a lot weirder. If it is consistent you may have a problem but an occasional is nothing to worry about. The hen's internal egg making factory is pretty complicated, it takes a lot to make a perfect egg. I feel we are all entitled to an occasional oops.

The reason you don't see those in the eggs you buy from the big commercial operations is that they automatically candle and inspect them so their customers don't get a surprise. They sell this defective eggs at a discount to bakeries, pet food manufacturers and such, places that open them to use them.

I agree , those eggs are OK. Here is my little problem. I have a 2 year old Americauna who lays huge eggs, 2 or 3 a week, the whites are so watery, they fill an 8 inch saute pan, taste bland, yolks look healthy, she looks healthy also. Anyone had this prlblem??
