I quit smoking and drinking in my life.I quit drinking - not fun, but I did it. I quit nicotine (leaf tobacco) - nearly impossible, but I did it. I have a strong addictive personality (note my post count?) If I could do it , so can you, It's just a matter of necessity.
After all of the above is done and said, I have told the Princess that if I get a terminal diagnosis - I will not go back to drinking, but there will be a bag of Levi Garret in my right hip pocket and a bag of Red man (green bag) in my left hip and a chew in each cheek of my mouth.![]()
I quit drinking twice..... Never was a big deal for me. But I watch my wife struggle with it.
Smoking was harder for sure.
Funny thing is when I quit I wasn't trying that hard.
I just kept trying..... Eventually I guess I just started thinking about it less still one day I just realized I hadn't smoked in a long time.
I think the point is just keep trying.... If you fall down get back up again and keep trying.
But don't make yourself miserable ..... If you slowly change your own habits....I think it get easier.
I think one of the things I did was quit carrying smokes in my shirt pocket so over time I quit grabbing for them.... It's a little thing but if you change a few little things I think it gets easier.
