Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I quit drinking - not fun, but I did it. I quit nicotine (leaf tobacco) - nearly impossible, but I did it. I have a strong addictive personality (note my post count? :lau) If I could do it , so can you, It's just a matter of necessity.

After all of the above is done and said, I have told the Princess that if I get a terminal diagnosis - I will not go back to drinking, but there will be a bag of Levi Garret in my right hip pocket and a bag of Red man (green bag) in my left hip and a chew in each cheek of my mouth. :p
I quit smoking and drinking in my life.
I quit drinking twice..... Never was a big deal for me. But I watch my wife struggle with it.
Smoking was harder for sure.
Funny thing is when I quit I wasn't trying that hard.
I just kept trying..... Eventually I guess I just started thinking about it less still one day I just realized I hadn't smoked in a long time.
I think the point is just keep trying.... If you fall down get back up again and keep trying.
But don't make yourself miserable ..... If you slowly change your own habits....I think it get easier.
I think one of the things I did was quit carrying smokes in my shirt pocket so over time I quit grabbing for them.... It's a little thing but if you change a few little things I think it gets easier.

I really can't tell..... And that's the only pic of that buck..... Pretty sure he was headed south for the winter...... The deer here are starting to yard up now. I think most of the does are already headed out.
And yes we have a strange deer here here.... They do head south in the winter.
But only toward the massive cedar swamps in the center of the U.P.
When I drive to iron mountain in the winter for doctor appointments it's nothing to have to stop for big herds of deer...... They use the roads like big deer trails...... The roads in the area are very remote so very few people disturb them.

Installed that outside electrical outlet today.
I bought a jigsaw to cut the hole through the wall.
I have one but Lent it too someone......I bought one at Menards for $13 .... Now you guys know I like tools.
I swore I would never but a tool shop brand tool......I like quality.
But I only needed to cut one hole and it came with 10 blades so I didn't need anything more to cut the hole.
My wife tried to talk me into buying a more expensive one..... Because I always told her cheap tools are garbage.
I buy mostly snap on tools..... At about $100 per wrench.
So after I bought this jigsaw I felt kind a dirty.... Like I needed a shower.....:gig

I'm pretty much the same way. I never drank enough to have a problem. I'm not a tea-totaler, just don't run with drinkers anymore. Smoking's altogether different. After 50 years of drawing on pipes, I'd go back to smoking in a flash if I ever got a terminal diagnosis. If you know you're on your way out, may as well enjoy what time you have left. As it is, I quit the day before double bypass surgery this past February; been 10 months now, & I still miss the H3LL out of my pipes.

10 months? Seems like yesterday I was sitting at the computer praying for an update.

Well, we are back from hunting for the tree. It didn't take too long, but E and I are fairly terrible at knowing which little green "okay to cut" square on the map coincides with real land. So we may or may not have taken a tree from someone's property... :hmm
I started the decorating, made a big mess, and now I'm taking a break!
Lisa, it's good to hear from you -sorry that migraine took you out! Glad you're feeling better!
