Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Thank you! :hugs

Thanks! I'm having leftover cookie cake for breakfast, lol.

I recently got my first DSLR. After a lot of research, I settled on the Nikon D3400 because everywhere I looked said it was a great entry level DSLR that was good for beginners. So far I've found that to be true. I really love it, I've had it since last April and have been having a lot of fun paying with it and changing the settings to see what kind of pictures I can get, etc.

It is around $350, which is not bad for a DSLR. Not sure if a DSLR is what you were looking at getting or if you wanted something more point and shoot, but thought maybe this might help :) It does also have an auto mode if you don't want to mess with the settings.
:thumbsup Great post. I'm not the best for camera recommendations because I haven't bought one in about 15 years.

Was really looking at something like that . I like the fact you can see what you shoot. I really want a long lens . So whatever I get has to be able to handle one . Used to be you bought by film size . Now you just flip a switch and change to from a 35 to a 50 . Never got a camera I could borrow one but those days are long gone . Thanks Pyxis that helps .

auto correct can't neither :lau

I'm glad it helped! The kit lens that comes with it isn't very long range, only 55 mm, but you can buy some really nice zoom lenses for it. I bought one that's 55 mm to 200 mm, which is working well, and I'm looking at getting one that's up to 300 mm for some really long range wildlife shots. Maybe with my tax return, lol.

Yep, yer gonna have yer hands full!:D

It's 50° here now! :celebrate

We'd all like a longer lens ;) But all reputable brand DSLR should be able to take standard lenses - gotta have a steady hand for them big 'uns unless ya whop the shuttter speed up, in my limited experience.
