Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Huh?

No. . I pulled them.
Maybe I shouldn't have. . but I know a lot of them were layed back when we were having freezing weather. . I just thought they probably got frozen. . or not fertile. I cracked a few and only one looked fertile.
I should've asked you guys before I tossed them I guess :(

It's alright. But she might start collecting more to replace them, if the others can lay with her. So you may want to mark the good ones. Use a Sharpie so it doesn't rub off.
My Lexi has laid 2 in the log house. I'm leaving them. I collected 2 from both other girls today, I watched them over the weekend and found their hiding spots. :D

You’ve never heard that saying? It’s kinda like “something is better than nothing”....... 4 fertile eggs is better than someone poking you in the eye...... kind of a silly saying. :)

I did number them and marked the air cells.
So. . how does that work out if if eggs are at different stages of development? Wouldn't that mean it would hatch 5 or 6 days later than the others? Wouldn't she give up on them?

Most likely she would leave the late ones. But their instinct is to lay on as many as possible, so it kinda depends if she "wants" more. You could give her some others, and mark them for removal later. Or just let it ride now. She'll likely be just fine with the 4. Just watch if she starts getting off the nest more often, she may be "asking" the others to contribute more.
Probably won't happen, just saying in case...

I don’t blame you. Even though gardening is a stress reliever for me, I would take care of what matters most. I’m glad your wife is doing better and you are there for her.

Any specific reason you are growing heritage plants? I hear people growing them but don’t know much about it.
I found these interesting varieties ..... I'm always trying different things.
