Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Rosie makes me think of all the rosy Palmer jokes
:lau:gig:lau:gig

I admit, I thought of that too. :gig

Crazy day, but 4 chicks from Saturday's hatch no longer live here! So now I'm down to just the two Orps and one SB. But I filled the bator to the brim with 55s and SBs (hoping to get some of Peter Parker's babies)!
It really cooled off today and we had some cloud bursts while we were in town, but none out hereherherehe (thanks Monroe).

:clap

As I was about to be drenched with rain, in my rush, I ran a staple into the side of my finger. Yes, a power stapler, so it went deep. Bled like a stuck pig. And now it huRTs like HeLL! :he
Ugh!!! Hate when I do stuff like that! Hope it heals up - and stops hurting - very soon!

The white rock. She has barring that you can't see - can't see white barring on a white feather. Barring is often added to white breeds with yellow legs, because barring is a dermal melanin inhibitor, so it makes the yellow brighter. And you can't see the barring so it doesn't matter that it's there - until you cross it to a bird that's not white. My white leghorn hen carried barring for this reason; at some point barring was added to brighten the legs.

And this rooster of mine is barred too, but you can't see it because of the white feathers:

But you can see it a little in his tail if you look closely.

That would also mean your chick is a black sex link - it's a cockerel.
I feel like I should’ve known that  Thank you for the insight. So the chick being black would its dad be the BA then? I knew it was a boy, its comb is huge for two weeks. I have three WR hens, would they all carry it then? I have a WR X BL pullet that took after the brown Leghorn dad.

And it’s so much funnier coming from the kid who said it. You all know the kid I’m talking about, because you’ve all dealt with this kid somewhere along the line. Good, fun kid who just blurts out whatever comes to mind and is so comical when he does it, it’s hard to get after him.

Most of my class...

Lucky you! I have 12 days left. (Not that I'm counting...)

I've got until a month from yesterday:hit Let's just say that 3 of the 6 students that aren't going to be moving on to the middle school next year are not exactly making it hard to not be back myself next year... And I finally remembered to turn in the paperwork saying I'm leaving next year today. Same form that I don't bother with every year--can't really just ignore it this time--no way I'm commuting from 2-3 timezones away:gig

Has anyone heard from Ravyn lately?

There's an echo in here.
The worst of the rain appears to be over, but it was a humdinger of a storm. Bushes beat over from the force of the rain, a good portion of the gravel lane not where it was this time yesterday, flash flood warning still up for another 3 hours. Water falling so fast & running so much that some, not much, was running across the floor when we got home; no biggie, really, not when we've seen it an inch deep before At least all the birds seem to have survived, & there are no boats floating around, so I guess it could be worse. DW don't want me up on a ladder, but someone has to get up to the end of the clogged gutter, & I haven't noticed her jumping into the volunteer line. It's only 8-10' off the ground at that point.
