I find that breed so odd.

To hear him trying to act like a full grown rooster, while making baby sounds, is a hoot!

Also odd... I kind of thought he would make dinosaur sounds.

My favorite part is when he dances himself right out of the cage and then hops back up and keeps dancing as if he's trying to be like "I meant to do that".

Ermygersh... what a night! At 6:15 my cousin called to tell us that my aunt (Mom’s sister) was on her way to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Ten to 15 minutes later, Son texted and told us that baby is on the way (she is still being processed). At 8:15 my pager went off for my mom’s address! Step dad passed out, was unresponsive for a couple of minutes, grey and making snoring noises. He was awake by the time I got there, and somewhat oriented. Took him by ambulance to the hospital. He got transferred to a bigger hospital 45 miles from town. I drove Mom, so we’re here for the night. DH will come get me sometime tomorrow.

That is a crazy day Hopefully today is less stressful!

I am trying to order something... I read the FAQ on the website CAREFULLY. It clearly said 3 to 5 week to process.

I counted days.... blah, blah, added shipping. .. and it just barely works... just to be sure I chose horrid expensive faster shipping.

And then I check my email. .. "dear valued customer , is there a specific date that you needed this? Because it will be finished on 9/22"



OK fine, the world will not come to an end... but dang all!!!

So sorry about the babies @WVduckchick that's awful! We all build safe places but the hungries keep getting in. I lost so many years ago I stopped keeping birds, couldn't take it! Hang in there.

My guineas are starting to hatch!

Oops, it was an egg i didn't intend to incubate. My SS are with a Polish rooster because their roo died. He is a jerk but i tolerate him because he protects my girls. It was a smallish egg and i thought it was a guinea egg. Which means the guineas have a week more to incubate. I have not been writing stuff down and must have messed up my date. I did start writing the set date on at least one egg per batch. Life will be easier.

And the ducks heads and necks were eaten, so definitely not shocked.

@WVduckhick, Have you considered the possibility that the predator might have been a Great Horned Owl ? Especially this time of year when feeding kits, I would have expected a raccoon to remove the entire duckling. (assuming female) Several years ago in Central Park, NY they were finding headless/neckiless ducklings and thought that it was the work of a Satanist cult. Turned out to be a GHO.

Oh. I didn't realise they had been chewed on. Another one of these. .
Tomorrow I have to go out and drain the duck tank again and re figure out a ramp or steps of some kind
I let the pastel babies out to swim thankfully supervised by me. . .and one of them torpedo dived and didn't come back up. . it had swam behind the cinder block and was just the right size it couldn't get the rest of its body through. Thank goodness I could see some bubbles so I knew just where to reach for it. . both arms plunged in to the nasty poopy duck water as fast as I could. Moved the blocks and up it came and looked at me like. . what the h e ll just happened?

Ewww, well if it makes you feel better, I stick my arm in it quite often.
