Don't know didn't hear you..... But you wrote it in public.......I will. Spotted one getting ready to do some mountain biking a couple of weeks a go.... Kilt and all. I guess you have to have leather balls for that.... did I say that out loud?

Very excited about the blacks, they are the start of a new big color project for me![]()
I survived my Disneyland adventures, but I was randomly captured by a couple Imperial Guards, marched thru the crowd at gun point, detained & accused of being a Rebel Traitor.
Got along great with the other humans there, but I'm pretty sure they'll remember me as 'that freaky white chick in the combat boots.'

Did I learn my lesson from the hat day? No o o o . .
I decided to wear my poodle skirt to school in the 5th grade. What a disaster. Blah ha ha ha.
Not too shabby, 'specially if it worked.
I decided to play both ends against the middle, being's it's so close to hatch, and not wanting to upset the hen needlessly. I finished the divider & got it in place. The feed & water are up against the 2x4 wire, so they're accessible from either side. I'm going to leave Momma & brats where they are, in the main coop with the flock, unless a problem develops. Hopefully, everything will be fine. If not, I'm ready.
In the event the babies are raised with the flock from the beginning, the day will come, in a couple weeks, when Momma wants to introduce the brats to the world outside the coop, which is 3 feet off the ground. They won't be able to negotiate the ramp right away. Can a hen carry a chick to the top of a ramp w/o incident?
Great pics Nat!Phoebe and her little one had a short outing again tonight. Lasted a little longer before the others got too close to the baby.
Then I saw that she had the baby in the boat for a swim.
I heard this huge sounding bull frog and thought it could eat the baby, until I found it sitting on the fence.
How does that little thing have such a resounding croak???

I agree. To all of that. they are super sweet, easy to train, best small parrot by far. No way will they talk.. the boys can learn whistles pretty easily, but the girls only a tiny bit.
However, their personality is really great.
Are you sure that wasn't a Cockatoo? Cockatiels don't usually have feather picking problems. It is one of the reasons they are so great. They are as smart and snuggly as you can get without neurotic issues/tendencies. It sure is hard to get them to eat pellets though. -sigh- Way more difficult than other parrot species that I have owned.
Try to get one that was weaned onto pellets. The life expectancy will be so much higher if you can get good food into them. Hard to find though....
Yes, I loved my two boys. Fizz is great in different ways - he's an excellent talker, he's smarter, he's super personable, we have a great bond, but cockatiels are just so sweet and easy. My younger male that I got as a baby learned to talk well and whistled up a storm.
I actually converted my first cockatiel, a male I rescued, onto pellets after at least 15 years of eating a seed diet. That took some doing. Luckily Shika was weaned right onto pellets so that was nice.
I loved my cockatiels. I had three, and I can vouch for the dust. They somehow put off a dander that would create a layer of white haze on everything in the room. Other than that they are great!
See above post.... I used to breed them. Really nice birds, but the males can be a bit noisy. Rand reared birds make the best pets. I am sure there is a lot of info online, or you can pick up a book.
