Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Made it out hunting all day today. I saw a huge flock of turkeys, almost walked right to me before they spotted me taking pics of them. :D

Hubby saw a bunch of deer, mostly does, one small buck, and one huge buck, but he was pistol hunting when the big one came thru, too far away. He took the rifle back out later and shot a big-body/small-rack buck right at sunset. (Good land management deer) I had already climbed out of my stand (got a bit drizzled on, I was worried to wait till dark with the ladder being wet) and was walking toward him when I heard the ka-boom! Deer ran right toward me and crashed. Then got up! I got my sights on it, thinking he must not have gotten a good hit, but it dropped again. I can’t wait to make some jerky! :drool

Love good venison jerky

Yes, walnut :) This particular type of walnut is often referred to as being of 'chrysanthemum' type.

Happy I was right! And I am glad they add "chrysanthemum " to the front... because that sure isn't as flat and tight as a regular walnut.

Actually... kind of interesting that "they" decided to breed a hot climate chicken with a compact comb

They're meant to be sort of like a miniature version of the big fighting birds. So the smaller comb is needed, because a large comb is a large target and since combs bleed profusely, it's not a good idea, lol.

Kos were never fought though, just meant to be kind of small versions of the big ones that have the spirit of fighting birds. And the big ones weren't ever actually used in their breed development either, and they're pretty different in type and form. But, that's why the small comb. They are supposed to be a bird that looks and acts like a fighter, even though they were never fought.
