Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Wasn't too bad...... it looked cold.
But it was in the 20's and I was wearing my parka. Didn't have a lick of orange on me.
Could have gotten a ticket but I haven't seen a C.O. in 20 some years...... besides I was miles from anyone..... was so still and quiet last night.

Several years ago, we hardly needed to bother with orange either, but lately there are lots more folks out on our ridge. I don't worry much about COs, more worried about other hunters finding their way onto our property accidentally.
Hubby in his orange as we were headed out to our stands.

Managed to finally get my little Willys home yesterday.
I'm gonna have too....i take the plow off my red truck and put it on my white GMC.
So I think the 350 fuel injected drivetrain been that truck will fit in here.
Turning this into an off road beast..... it's Frame is shortend the whole truck is about the length on a CJ.
At about half the weight of a regular truck this thing should fly down the trails.

I haven't seen another hunter in the woods in years....I guarrantee that there wasn'tanother hunter within several miles of where I was last night.
Like I said the woods were silent..... I'm very fortunate to have gotten to live in a very remote area......(at least remote for the lower 48).
Growing up we used to travel to what we thought back then was north.....(500 miles south of here) .... Gladwin..... and yes back then there was a hunter over every hill.
If it was like that here I wouldn't hunt at all.
That whole half the land but only 3% of the population of LowerMichigan thing has its perks...... solitude is one of them

Gonna hunt the swamp blind again tonight.
The are less deer there.... but the bucks the will come in the daytime..... not so much behind my house. Of course the fact that I'm working on my plow truck 50 yards away might be why.
That stand is about 50 yard into the woods from where I have the pad and work on stuff.

I'm so bummed. I lost my only 55 Flowery cockerel to a raccoon attack this morning. I heard a ruckus around 5 AM. It pulled his head through the welded wire and ate it. How it got that close to him, and why he was standing so close to the fence I do not know. But i am quite frustrated, upset, sad... ugh!!!
