Dang my birds must be spoiled....I feed them sometimes the times a day..... But I give them lots of greens and other stuff..... They barely eat regular feed.
In the summer they never eat anything cuz they are constantly gleaning the yard....
But yeah I go the the grocery store daily to buy reduced produce for them.... Today they got cukes.... Bananas and heads of lettuce.
I have such a small flock though it's easy to spoil them.
Ohhh, don't write stuff like that, the feed police here will be after you.
You know the rules; only 10% of anything that doesn't come in a big bag!
I have the same here. This morning I put out the feed as usual, most of the bantams had a peck then headed off to the compost heap with me shouting after them; "only 10% mind, don't stuff yourselves".:lau

In the summer... My birds free range and eat whatever they want....I put food out. They always have a big feeder full of layer feed and scratch grains..... But they eat what they want.
They spend most of their day in the summer on the frog pond behind the house....I worry cuz we have coyotes, wolves, fox.... Well pretty much everything.... Now we have cougars and lynx too..... But I've been soooooo lucky to not have predation issues.... Knock on wood.... As I've said before my birds live a fairly charmed life... Never had any serious illness.... Except one poor duck that died a few years ago from some unknown reason..... The few ducks I have lost over the years have been just from freak accidents.... I've never lost a chicken yet.....(knock on wood again...:)).
If anyone tries me crap about my pet ducks diet.... I'd have to ask them if they have five years of very healthy birds...I think I'm feeding them okay..... My birds are genuinely happy and healthy.....I pray it stays that way.:fl

And to be honest all my animals are spoiled.... My dogs are basically my children now.
Sevens my little buddy... If it wasn't for R.C. and Seven if have no one to talk to while my wife is working... And heck she had 90 hours last pay..... That's a lot of alone time.
And since my wife quit drinking she's really taken to the birds too..... The only hard part is that this time of year it's about keeping them alive through the winter... Hard to enjoy knowing it's miserable cold out.
But I try and give them all the comfortable I can.... Thinking of insulating and heating the coop next year....(don't worry I'll leave all the ventilation in tack)
And when I say heat...I mean trying to keep it above 20 degrees F...... Probably below 32 though.... As when it's colder at least you don't have any moisture issues.... And they are well equipped for those temps anyhow.
My real worry this year was it was my first winter with call ducks. But the were little troopers ..... There was a small infection on boo boo's foot. So when it was the coldest I was bringing them in and letting them hot tub in the bathtub every night.
When I told my mom I was doing that, she gave me a face..... But heck I took comet to it when they were done... Tub was probably the cleanest it's ever been.

Are there feed police on this thread?
I don't wander from here.... Except a few non poultry threads on occasion. Really need to get back to Rachel's thread though.....

I can't say the same unfortunately regarding the predator issues. However, those that survive just don't seem to get ill.

I got kumquat out of their pots in which they had become pot bound today. Same with two gooseberry bushes. I'll need to fence them off from the chickens at some point.
This doesn't sound like much but the holes needed to be 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet.
The holes needed to be this big because the ground is mainly sandstone and the bulk of the hole needed to be filled with compost It's been very dry so if you substitute sandstone for concrete that's what the dig was like.
I'm about ready for my hot chocolate and bed.:)

Just to blamed tired to read . Dark come head light and carry on . I had to beat TSC closing to get goat meds ,and a tube for yet another flat skid loader tire .Just made it . Took longer to put a new starter on my truck than I thought it would . :thI went to a auction yesterday , Wouldn't you know I bought two tractors and both have a flat tire.:idunno One don't run at all ,most likely never will and both front tires are flat :hit. Ever hear the saying beat me baby I must like it :lau All because the grass has grown enough to mow :barnieI never finished cutting hay last year :hmm tractor broke, hydraulics went out . Yep still not fixed . I needed another tractor .Sooooo I spent a lot of time yesterday looking sideways . Just didn't want to get the look . You know the one . Like what were you thinking!!!?????They were selling caviar and all I could afford was peanut butter . And at the end of it all they wouldn't take my check :barnieAnd all I bought was peanut butter . Wanted me to get a letter from the bank backing up my check .I'm like hello what planet you from?:rant It's Saturday bank closes at noon , We even went on line to try and get what they wanted . Our bank said they would only mail it to us and it would take a week .So my peanut butter is still there . I have to go get a cashiers check in the morning, so they will let me have my peanut butter .:thThen I have to fix the flat on the tractor that runs ,so I push the one that doesn't run on the trailer . I hope the front tires will hold air long enough to do that :idunno. Ben to KFC trash to the convenient center, on the way. Starter on truck ,quick run to TSC. Skid loader flat fixed , goats dogs chicken horse fed and watered family fed . Did I forget anything :idunnoYep normal weekend more or less:th And I'm so bored I just can't wait for tomorrow :lau:lau :frow:frow:frow
