And now I have two cockatiels. This is Rio. Rio is a baby, not even old enough to have gone through a juvenile molt. His owners thought he acted like a male, though the jury's out on his gender until he does molt. He's extremely friendly and has spent about five minutes in the cage since he got here because he immediately begged me to take him out. I was interrupted typing this two times because he ran onto the keyboard and demanded that I scratch his head, lol.

Rio was rehomed because he was 'too loud' and was keeping his owners up, apparently.

No clue. I've just put him away and have the lights off and he's quiet as a mouse. He'll probably wake up before me in the morning, so if he starts screaming, then I'll have to start covering his cage for bedtime, but yeah, they're not loud birds.

That pattern is called pearl He is a pearl whiteface. If he really is a boy, then once he has a juvenile molt, he will lose all the pearling. Only females keep the pearling past the first molt. So I kinda hope he is a she.

I wondered about the lacing because my white face didn't have that. It was a female so it must've not been a pearl.
That I hope yours is a girl! That lacing is sooo pretty!

Had eye check ups for myself and kid 5.

My left eye is still funky, but not degenerative, and unless I want to shell out 30 to 40k.. nothing to be done.

Kid though... they couldn't do a full workup on him... BECAUSE HE HAD A BIT OF METAL DEAD CENTER IN HIS EYE!!!!

Seriously?

Doc was all, no sudden pain, no working around a grinder???? Looks like it happened 3 to 7 days ago...

Kid had no idea

So....

Bit of metal was removed, there will probably be a bit of scaring... right there in the middle of his pupil.. but since he never noticed it while it was in there....
