Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Ha! I just got a “look” from a student. 9th grade boy. I’m subbing for his para, as I did on Wednesday. I was in the front of the room, he was behind me. After class, I mentioned to his case manager how hard he had worked in class. The CM said, “No he didn’t! He was chatting with some girl, playing games, and not even signed in for the last 20 minutes.” (CM can see and control what kid does on his device.) So today when I got to class, I didn’t say a word - just came in and sat to the left behind him where I could see his screen. Apparently he does not approve of my seating choice. 😆

Tell me how this makes sense: Today, the 6th graders are getting “the talk”. Typically, the girls from both classes go to one room, and the boys from both classes go to the other room, and the presentation is given once. Today, since each classroom “pod” is not to switch rooms and intermingle, the boys from room A are outside while the girls from room A are in getting the “girl talk”, while the boys from room B are in getting the “boy talk” while the girls from room B are outside. They’ll switch in 45 minutes. Meanwhile, guess what’s happening outside? The kids from room A and the kids from room B are all playing on the playground TOGETHER!!!!
:th(I know this, because I’m outside “supervising”. Aka making sure they don’t kill each other. I don’t mind. Since I’m outside and not near anyone, I can unmask.)

The winter bird dumping of all the birds bought early in the pandemic has started.

I got a call from a coworker tonight that someone was at the store with a guinea in their car and trying to give it away to them.

So I told her to ask him if he'd drive it closer to me and I'd take it. He said yes, so we met up.

The full story ended up being that someone had dumped three juvenile guineas at the church where he went. He'd had guineas when he lived elsewhere but couldn't keep any where he lived now, right near the hospital in the city.

Of the three guineas, one was taken by a hawk. The other was killed by a cat. This last one he just managed to catch tonight, and then he drove to the feed store to try to at least get some food for it.

The rest from there is him talking to my coworkers and it making its way to me.

The poor thing is very skinny. I have it with some water right now to get it hydrated, and then I will be giving it food. If he hadn't caught the poor thing, I'm sure it would have starved to death soon.

evening pondites,
It takes a lot for me to blow my top and it's just too long to go into the whole story but suffice to say I didn't have any problem in town with folks keeping their social distancing by the time I was finally able to head for home. I was still boiling so hot when I arrived DH and all the critters scattered. I'm ok now and all is calm. Now I just need to repent and do an apology or two. Not for what I did, but how I reacted to the actions of others. There's not many, but a few things just push my worst buttons. At least I generally can push the reset button rather quickly.
Anyway, it's a beautiful evening, I'm safe at home and DH, the critters and I are all settled in and watching the crazy ice miners on Gold Rush.
I don't have to worry about any more trips to town anytime soon because everything is pretty much going back into lockdown. We will probably pack a lunch and go for ride tomorrow. The colors are just too beautiful to not enjoy them at least once before the weather changes.

Have a safe weekend everyone :hugs

here in NY the hotspot for Covid back in Feb/March was in the city, predominantly religious community who refused to follow any precautions/claimed anti semitism when mayor/governor closed their schools long after all public schools were closed. They always make exodus upstate and flagrantly ignored all precautions we have been implementing. They returned to the city by Labor Day, and today's news report serious spikes in Covid back in these same neighborhoods! We who are doing baby steps toward normalcy are tired of this!
