Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good Afternoon, Pond!
I’ll need a bit more Velcro...

Hey @room onthebroom - when did you get quail? I suspect there's a story there that I missed!

I just put 32 quail eggs in the incubator yesterday. I'm so happy they're finally laying. As soon as we had exactly 12 hours of daylight they started up again!
Hmmm... I don’t know when we got them. It’s been a long time ago. I don’t do much in the quail forums because we always just have a few at a time that DD1 keeps as pets.

Any chance of doing the hatching project with your class again this year?

Youngest doing a math game... dry erase marker in mouth.... and the parrot on his leg.

I love homeschooling. Can't imagine getting rid of kids while they are still this young.
I 100% agree.

My sneaky little manipulators are working on 2wks off. Last week DH was off all week & we agreed to let them off too so they could help with the quailio.

This week is spring break at the college & they feel that since big sis is off, this should be their spring break too to do fun stuff. DD3 has a list (biking, hiking, beach....) that has me tired just looking at it.

DH & kids 2 & 3 are leaving right now to bike on a cement bike path they’ve never been on before. They haven’t been on bikes since the summer pre covid. Between that & us living in a pretty bad neighborhood, I’m having a mommy bird anxiety attack.

I’m looking forward to this week being over

But all of that biking and hiking IS school! They are doing an intensive PE class.

See?

So, not vacation.

To add some science, tell them to return from the hike with a leaf from 4 different tree species, (and yes, they have to figure out the exact kind of trees), and a sedge!!!,

As to the stress... yeah, I hear ya!

But... if it makes you feel any better... I grew up in Galveston and Houston... high crime areas... ran all over, and nothing bad happened to me.

Your kids have great common sense. If the dude in a white van drives up, even if he is holding a puppy, they will know not to jump in.

:hugs
