Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Wow that egg infront is incredibly blue!

What color eggs do your ducks lay?
It’s not as blue as it looks, but they have a blueish-greenish tint mostly. My white girl’s eggs were closer to white, with only slight tint. My greys lay the darkest eggs.

She came off the nest with 4 ducklings, the final 7 eggs look like they made it close to the end and then quit. But 4 is good for her. This is her second clutch this year.
This is one of those final 7 eggs, with a cream colored egg from my white Phoenix

And with her 4 adorables.

Nice!

You are getting some great assortment on duckling colors.

I can't remember if I mentioned this or not but I bought bantams this year 😂🤦‍♂️ I have what I believe are buff cochins and Millie fluers (as well as some OEGB but they're really not doing well, still in the brooder, might sell them if they ever perk up 🙄)
I believe I have a pair of Cochins I was thinking I had a trio of Millie's but I'm starting to think it's two boys and a pullet. They're 7 weeks old today (I reckon lol, close enough by my calculations) any thoughts?

I actually really like the Cochins 😂

Buff cochin Pullet?

Ha...

Which ones lay eggs? Those are the girls.

Seriously!!!
I have 7 in broody jail right now and 1 setting. That's capacity for the jail. The inmates are restless!
How do you people do this?? Is it your warmer climate, maybe? I’m lucky if I get a broody before mid-summer, and never more than one at a time. Last year I had a hen go broody 3 times. This year she’s shown no interest. The one broody I had lost all of her eggs before hatch date (bigger bird, small nest, I think may have been the problem.) I absolutely don’t have time to deal with a broody for the next several weeks, so that’s likely when the next one will want to set…

Last day of kid #3... before leaves for 6 to 8 weeks to go fishing in the Berring sea...

Grandparents dropped off a care bag...

Betadine, lots of packages of baby wipes, and a giant bag of candy.

:th

It was funny, when we last saw the grandparents, grandma kept going on about how he wouldn't get to shower for 2 months.... I kept trying to tell her that if they are all rolling in fish slime, after the first 3 days, no stank will be noticed.

I am just happy to hear the boat is big enough that he gets his own bed.

Poor kid has been working like gangbusters these last few weeks, finishing up his current job before the fishing job starts. He drove pilot car lastnight until 7am... still passed out atm.

Wow! That rolled up fast.

I’m suffering parental anxiety for you, but am feeling proud of him too. He’s gonna be so grown up when he gets home.
😭🥰🤗
