Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Nice to have a shark-free place to post questions :D

:/ I will... What are the very first signs of it happening? I googled, but only saw advanced cases. What do I do if I start seeing it?

If it goes gangrene, then you'll have to suck it up and amputate it yourself... or put her down... not being mean, but being truthful... gangrene is no joke... and won't get 'better'... and it's a horrible thing to suffer through until it kills them...

Thanks! That happens around this time of year. I'd hatch them myself, but I'm pretty full up too! :D
And if you ever want some, just let me know.

That goes for all pond residents. ;)

:thumbsup

Same goes for what's I gots too... am just super duper broke right now... :/

No.... No... :he

There is minor swelling around the edges, where the scales have come off, and a slight reddish tint I took to just be blood gathering there a bit due to swelling.

Help?? Please?? What do I do??
Hadn't seen redness as a symptom before, and am a bit panicked now- Sorry.

A little redness and *slight* swelling can be irritation from the part getting caught, banged, etc... watch for significant swelling, redness that spreads, whitish/yellowish lumps, dark discoloration, bad smell...

And stop looking crap up... just ask here or PM...

I'm sitting here eyeballing them and wondering if I could get away with a coop of seramas in the backyard of the house in town, lol.

"They're not chickens, I swear."

Yes, I give her a daily bath & keep debris off the leg. Will keep doing epsom soaks and apply TAO for now....

Maybe give her a few days of no soaks... let that part dry out more... might help it get brittle to fall off easier...

Have you ever used meat tenderizer on a horse cut . I wonder if that will help . Also it is it is very risky but you could further restrict the blood flow to the foot . The problem and expense here are the bones in the foot . Otherwise it would not be much worse than a frost bit comb . Banti whatever is going to happen is going to happen . your doing all you can and if your like me can't spend $300 on a twenty dollar duck .

That foot looks shriveled and dry. My "Peg" gal's foot looked like that before it fell off. Once it did, the knob healed over and she had a normal life with the stub. She did have to learn to scratch with the other foot as the peg wasn't very effective.

Smell and liquid and swelling are bad. Dry and shriveled, while not good, are signs that things are going normally.

I don't think you'll need to amputate, but time will tell.

It's been one heck of a start to the year, my friend... maybe I'll get my chit sorted out soon and not be so loopy, eh?

Please don't get any less loopy - gotta think of all the other pond dwellers that gain comfort in the knowledge that others are less normal than they are

And besides, you are great just the way you are!
