Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Oh, WV, I got 2 of butterball daughters I held on for my breeding pen. I've got a really nice blue and 2 really nice mauves. The mauve cockerel is really small and pretty. I kept a blue who is nicer than his father (but is larger than the mauve) and a black cockerel. Have to test to see if the black and blue cockerels carry chocolate. If one of them doesn't then I'm separating them out with the blue and black girls for a bbs pen.

Nice!! Just what you need... another pen!

I have a gal coming tomorrow to pick up that extra rooster. He looks more chocolate now, with just a few white feathers here and there, mainly in the tail. The hackle feathers look white underneath. Would that make him splash or mauve? He is the most awkward rooster I have ever seen mate.

I'm hatching some chocolate and lavender eggs for her, so I'm giving her the rooster for free.

I have the perfect meme for this but alas, it isn't family friendly

Those darn things do hurt like the dickens!

I've got three eggs in lockdown to hatch tomorrow - I didn't even realize when I set them that they were due for Valentines Day, lol. Guess they will need some themed names.

I tried to set my ducks for Valentine's but they decided to hatch on day 26 and 27 mostly, there were a few hatched on day 25 and one hatched today, day 28, don't know what's with that though

I was going to wait till this morning to lock down, but last night they looked ready. I have a feeling I will at least have some pips tomorrow.

Good luck!

OK I'm trying to remember comments regarding my Cochin question.

He hatched Jan 11th. The Pond has unanimously dubbed it a cockrel. And I think it was Oz who asked about a parent pic.

These were eBay hatching eggs out of Georgia, and these were the pics from the guy selling them. There's always the possibility of him yanking my chain about whether he'll be a standard or bantam. Doesn't matter I guess. Neither does the gender for that matter.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Trust the Pond... I do... more than any other group, hands down.. :D

Good morning all, my husband just called and said that my ducks were obnoxiously loud this morning... :lau :lau WELCOME TO THE LIFE OF OWNING CALL DUCKS
:lau

He asked for it... I told him they were loud and he said that's what he wanted!!

Well... HE GOT IT!! :lau

You are still very early on.  Some do develop stronger blood vessels sooner... and some just aren't as visible when you candle.  They will all catch up.

:D

What she said!!! :thumbsup

Dang I missed another day.. . But it was a fairly busy day yesterday.... And to town for dinner and big a few stores.
It s Valentines dinner for the wife. Although I enjoyed my crab legs for dinner. Then we went to a local chocolate shop and I bought here a box of chocolates.. (wow how expensive local chocolate is!!!!)

Then we hit spice merchants and I picked up a Himalayan salt cutting board.

Everyone good here today?

:frow :hugs

howdy Phil......

thought about you and dan this weekend, while I was cleaning the greenhouse, prepping our raised beds, and putting a few plants in the ground.  Not to mention, wife informed me earlier, that our seeds arrived from Baker Creek.......looking like I'll be planting some this next weekend..

which reminds me, I need to order some clear plastic to make some tents, just in case of a late frost......

Hey, you!!! How're those eggs???

Don't make me whip out the Hello Kitty pencil........

Hi everyone! Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.

Stressed actually, but getting better... hope yours was a good one!

yes, as long as they are stored in the same environment, they will incubate equally.
It's called silver in ducks, but no, your duck is blue. Black leaking through is common in blue ducks and is not a fault.
agreed.

X2

Mini, rust is a fault though, yes?

I wouldn't call that shrink wrapped, but if it can't push the cap off, then there probably is some membrane stuck to it.

I wish whoever came up with the "shrink wrap" term would...... ugh... family friendly.... never mind.... LOL

Agreed!!!!

I say stuck... that other term actually hallens so very, very rarely...

Yes!!!!!! I want the unedited version though!! :lau

Rough day at work today, so I went to get on my laptop to mess around a bit to decompress. Hm, no cursor. OK, let's restart, though it'll have to be an improper shutdown. Restart--still no cursor. OK, fine, use my phone to Google, find directions. First step--Windows key. Which does nothing. Windows key again--nothing. Again. Again. Againagain. Step away, drink tea. Try ctrl+alt+del so I can at least turn the thing off correctly. Nothing. Try again. Again. Againagainagain. Try to remember if we still have a usb keyboard. Look, but decide not to tear garage apart after not finding keyboard in the most likely places...
