I'm finding this hatching thing means you'll have more unavoidable accidents than ever before.
Welcome to the hard lesson called Life...
Pardon me if I'm interrupting...
I was just about to leave for church this night, when I noticed the bulb on the quail had blown. I reluctantly put the MHP in their brooder, which I had not done in the first place due to their fragility and stupidity, and planned to find a bulb and switch them back over ASAP.
I got home and went to check on them, and when I went to pick the pad up, I accidentally pinched the neck of a chick burrowed up against the side with the frame. It can't hold its head up right and keeps shaking its head...
Help??
After finding a 75w white light bulb to tide them over until tomorrow, I made the injured one a nest it can lean on to stay upright. The only reason I didn't just snap its neck is it could still stand and did not appear distressed.

How is it this morning Banty?
Even Katherine's legs weren't that well feathered at a day old. These are gonna be massive lol!

I love the little black feet!!!!! OMG!!!!
I was peeking at the Serama to see if they were ready to move to the hatcher and just happened to run my phone flashlight over those Call eggs. At least four show veining at 2 days!
awwwwww
oh no!! so sorry!!!Pardon me if I'm interrupting...

Thank you. I just checked on it and it's walking better and not stuck on its back... Here's hoping![]()
knock on wood, lol![]()
Amazingly enough, I have never had an accident while driving... go figure...![]()
just had a successful hatch of 5 out of 8 egg that had horrible saddle air cells. There may be a sixth one I don't know if it's going to make it or not.![]()
great! i hope this means that your curse is over!!what's hatching?![]()
I've got three externals on call duck eggs out of four. The 4th one is internal
Great news!!In chickenkeeping, I mean... Plenty used to accidents in other respects of life, lol.
Can't tell it apart from the other of the same colour.
yes! I believe the curse is over! I fought tipsy hard to get her walking and her head up. She was drawn up bad from being in a tiny tiny egg. Her head was stuck down and under her chest and her feet wouldn't bend backward to walk. The feet still are not great but she can wobble around and upright her self when she gets flipped on her backtheyre bringing back the bells

i cant wait to see them!!!It is such a good thing I keep the eggs in a cabinet for incubating.
I pulled the three Serama eggs into the Eco 20 hatcher around midnight, and then spent an hour staring at their amazing tininess, hoping a chick would hatch while I watched. Since hatch isn't due for a couple of days yet, that did not happen. The two smaller eggs are no larger than a robin egg. The larger is around the size of a quail egg. The two smaller ones were loose in the quail tray and I had to pad them.
There will be lots of pictures. I feel like the first person to have ever attempted to hatch them. Crossing my big clumsy fingers for their tiny, fragile success!
Morning folks.
I got some blue eggs developing. Air cells are maybe w little saddled, but they are cooking.
