Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I swear, someone upstairs has one twisted sense of humor... either that or just enjoys messing with me... :lau

WV was right--just got a call from the Eureka PO that they have my chicks, and they'll be at my post office in the morning :jumpy (Don't have time today to make a 4 hour round trip :hit or I could get them today... I need to get the brooder set up anyway  )

 Pretty cool!! Congrats

@RavynFallen Did you get my PM? My duck started zipping a bit more than 1 1/2 hours ago I'm guessing, , and had been going fast, but has now been in the same spot for awhile about 45 minutes, probably longer. Should I assist? Thanks! Sorry to bug you, I'm just worried about her.

Even better news--the guy I'm splitting the order with will buy the extras I had to order

The original plan was to get Cackle's Rainbow Pullet Assortment, keep 6, sell him 9. But he wanted to know he was going to have at least 1 white bird. So we ordered 5 white rocks, and the assortment. I made a point of calling and speaking with a human, in hopes that I could get 10 in the assortment instead of 15. Nope... Leaving me with 5 extra, and needing to figure out a larger beginning brooder before finishing brooding out in the getting-to-know-you pen. Contacted him today to let him know that the chicks will be arriving tomorrow, likely on the first truck at 6:30am. We're going to meet a couple hours later, at which point I'll get the rest of the money (did 50/50 at time of order) and he'll get 14 chicks (plus packing peanuts, if any, since I forgot to request none... I may split the peanuts, though, so I don't end up with just them if I do a bad job picking--he's taking whatever I don't want)

What a day! Firstly, when I went to take care of my birds, my AC's coop was completely open. They live in a hoop coop, and it's well protected by wire, but a tarp over the top is what keeps the elements out. Last night my cousin, who rents the house on that property, told me that the "plastic" on my coop was loose. I thought she meant the plastic over the run, which is fine. No, she meant the tarp over the coop, which of course was not fine and was off all night and to top it off it rained and everything in there is a disaster, so tomorrow I have to deal with that. To make things better, there's no way it got loose on its own, which means her daughter, who she swears is not messing with my chickens even though I keep telling her she is, had to have had a hand in it.

Also, Willow flew off. She's around somewhere, probably at one of the ponds or rivers in the woods, because I can hear her, but she's dumb and she's hanging out there all night, so she's taking her chances with predators. Hopefully she comes back because even if I could find her, I can't catch a fully flighted goose on a body of water.

And to top all that off, as I was fixing the tarp situation, my phone fell out of my pocket right into a bucket of water. It seems to be fine, but now I'm just waiting for it to start having problems.

Jeez.

Anyway, congrats Ravyn on the win! Walnut, those birds are gorgeous.

Oh. I forgot to post my good news too. Lacie's egg is developing so she finally gets to be a mom! She's been trying to hatch since before she was even a year old, which is a bit unusual for geese. Now that she has a mate she actually has a chance.

And I'm loving this new camera.

Great pic, what is it? Maybe you got all the bad mojo over and done with in one day.
