Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

What a day! Firstly, when I went to take care of my birds, my AC's coop was completely open. They live in a hoop coop, and it's well protected by wire, but a tarp over the top is what keeps the elements out. Last night my cousin, who rents the house on that property, told me that the "plastic" on my coop was loose. I thought she meant the plastic over the run, which is fine. No, she meant the tarp over the coop, which of course was not fine and was off all night and to top it off it rained and everything in there is a disaster, so tomorrow I have to deal with that. To make things better, there's no way it got loose on its own, which means her daughter, who she swears is not messing with my chickens even though I keep telling her she is, had to have had a hand in it.

Also, Willow flew off. She's around somewhere, probably at one of the ponds or rivers in the woods, because I can hear her, but she's dumb and she's hanging out there all night, so she's taking her chances with predators. Hopefully she comes back because even if I could find her, I can't catch a fully flighted goose on a body of water.

And to top all that off, as I was fixing the tarp situation, my phone fell out of my pocket right into a bucket of water. It seems to be fine, but now I'm just waiting for it to start having problems.

Jeez.

Anyway, congrats Ravyn on the win! Walnut, those birds are gorgeous.

That sounds like a do-over day. I hope all turns out okay. Consider getting a trail cam for evidence, or padlock the coop?

Thanks, those were just phone pics. I don't take my Nikon out fishing :)

Congrats, Rav!

Jeez, that is quite a day, Pyxis. I sure hope your cousin't daughter isn't messing with your chickens.

DD is home watching over things while we're away. It's her first time supervising a hatch, I told her she needn't do a thing until 48 hours after first hatch. Instead I am getting a play by play and picture feed :) Incubator TV claimed another addict!

Oh. I forgot to post my good news too. Lacie's egg is developing so she finally gets to be a mom! She's been trying to hatch since before she was even a year old, which is a bit unusual for geese. Now that she has a mate she actually has a chance.

And I'm loving this new camera.

Eeeeeeeee!! Is there a bearded dragon thread yet? I know this is a gathering place for lovers of poultry but personally I do not think they're that different. Here's mine-I mean, my son's beardie. He got a bath today and shortly after I took this pic he crapped in the tub, then swished it around with his tail until he made a nice poop soup and I had to bleach the tub.

I don't think there is one, sadly! Your little one is a cutie! Love the orange. How old is he?

I don't find reptiles and birds all that different, either. I've got a soft spot for both. Along with Caramel, I also have a leopard gecko and a chameleon. I'd have more but I just don't have the room!

I hear you, me too. Sprite just turned one year old. He's actually a lot more orange-y than he looks in that pic. I think you found the secret to getting an awesome color photo of a beardie: a way better camera!

Yeah, I never could capture that yellow around her eyes and face until I got this camera. The first thing I took a picture of with it was her, and the yellow popped out right away. That's gotta be one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken of her, for sure!
