if it looks like a radiator it could be your heater core, but that wouldnt make sense because those have coolant in them, they dont filter air like the cabin air filter does
if that gets clogged up coolant will leak into your car and onto your floor, usually the passengers floor

oh, and it's a '97 dodge 2500 diesel.

i am not a diesel nor a dodge person BUT i *think* one is heater core and the other is the AC evap core

yep the gold is heater core and silver is ac evap core
