Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I hope not, but bottom line is that even after many generations of captive breeding they tend to retain their 'wild' nature unlike mallards which even have conformation changes after many generations of captive breeding. The activity and calling of your other birds should bring him back if he is still in the area. :hugs

I think I'd have more luck if it were mating season, but it's not. And the girls are being pretty quiet really. I'm just devastated. So stupid on my part.

Contact the lady you got them from, let her know and ask her to keep an eye out for him... if he doesn't come back to his girl, he might go back to where he was raised...

Already done. But she is quite a ways from me....

So, I have a younger cousin (around ten years old) who love love loves my chickens, and he's always asking great questions about them. I just asked his grandmother, my aunt, if I could give him a pair of bantam chickens to live in their backyard in a small coop for Christmas. We'll see how this goes, lol.
That's so sweet..I hope it goes well!

Does Ladder Man have any duck calls?

We don't duck hunt. :p
But that's a good thought, I could get one, or even try playing their sound from my phone.

Thanks...that makes 3 of us. Son's coming in from WI Saturday night to hunt the 1st week with me. Be nice if I could send him home with a cooler full of fresh venison.

We fried some up the other night. :drool
Good luck!

That would be cool. Hope they say yes.

I hope so! I know he would love them, and I'm thinking something like two OEGBs hens which are tiny and friendly. He would be very happy, but of course he'd have to take care of them.

I should probably let her know that if it didn't work out I'd be willing to take them back.
