Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I vote keep them. At least for a while & maybe reevaluate after you've gotten to know them better. Its probably not a good idea to decide while you're still reeling from the experience with the others. :hugs

Good advice. They did well today, actually already seem to be getting used to me squatting by the fence, talking to them. They didn't go bonkers when i added a small box for their hiding pleasure either. Baby steps.

 This makes me a little angry. Maybe she wasn't up to any kind of subterfuge, but theres something that feels a little shady about that (maybe just my city girl paranoia shining thru?)

I feel the same! I don't think she did anything wrong on purpose, but i still feel like she wasn't totally forthcoming. :hmm

She did admit today that she couldn't really tell the male teal from female either. Until the looks change a bit more, I'm thinking they may have both been male anyway. But I could easily be wrong there. Surely they hatchery sent her a pair.

I cant believe we had to feed & house that effer for almost 50yrs.

Amen sista.

Im glad to hear they're getting used to ya...:hugs

The years where its just us here are THE BEST! We can take our time lounging around in our jammies & arent rushed making dinner. Theres no pressure, so theres extra time to make stuff from scratch & you can just go lay down without having to entertain anybody... The years where we have people here are the years I buy all the stuff pre-done instead of making it & none of us enjoy the holiday or the food as much as when theres nobody here. Plus no crowd means extra leftovers! :thumbsup
Perspective is everything, ya know? Thanks for this.

Well, it must be in the pond. I lost a rooster. I have no idea where he is. A big, handsome BCM is nowhere to be found. DH and I combed the property, the neighbor's woodsy area, the old goat pen, all the coops... no feathers, no nothing. He is just gone.

Well, we won't go that far yet, but at least there's hope that they might!

Oh no!!

And, I am sstttiiiiilllll wading through essays. I've graded two that showed significant improvement, and one that read like some ridiculous stream of consciousness diatribe. I stopped marking that one halfway through (we do everything on computer now because the students have to turn them in through a plagiarism software) and told him I was done - it was that bad (but it wasn't plagiarized! Hah! :) ) The rest have been just about average... working on one of those now.
