Bread bags? Lucky you! We sewed together maple leaves and called em shoes. They made a right tasty stew when they were all wore out...

We had old leather shoes for sunday that were so stiff and tight, we had to chew them to make them soft enough to fit on....

OH they was seven of us two brothers older than me. I got small holes poor little brother got no soles atall . We nailed tree bark to the bottom of his feet with horse shoe nails . Heck he only hollered a little bit . coleoil kept down the infection
