Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Now that's a well insulated nest.
I hate to throw things away so I am expiramenting with using my llama/alpaca sheerings for nesting material. I think they will be good in the winter but I am worried it will be too warm in the summer.

So she was just broody! That's great!!

I think I might have the makings of a broody, she didn't get off the box at feeding time this evening.
Just candled and pulled 3 eggs. That left her 9 eggs. No idea whose eggs they are and they are at different stages of development so not sure what she will do at hatch time. My hubby actually suggested that I might have to put some in the incubator if she jumps off the nest.

Guess I have to go buy/borrow one.

Less likely to shoot your eye that way?

Will do!
My "missing" hen out for her broody romp. Her clutch of stolen eggs. Come on dark! I am ready to candle!
Nice!!!

Go to incubatorwarehouse.com... Genesis Hovabator 1588... best of the cheaper bators, hands down... :)

So I should Google tickling beavers at arms length?
sounds like a good plan to me!

@RavynFallen, you have done well. They are a good looking bunch you've created.

Caught all but 3 of my escapees. 2 hens and a rooster left. I have 9+ very very unhappy chickens in my main run tonight.

Apologies for the long multi! :D

Dan ---- you win the prize! Found my missing hen on a clutch of 12 eggs.

I was cleaning out my coop and moved some crates I had piled up and there she was. Guess I am candling eggs tonight. Even my chickens want more chickens!

:weee so glad you found her!

Mad I left them in the bator overnight, lol...

I figured that after you said it, unlike the boys' guesses... :gig

:love

Kinda depends on how severe the infestation is. The DE and borax (I use Terra) baits are good if you've caught it early, and for prevention. If you've got tons of ants that have moved in, you may need to use the chemicals first.

Don't ya just love those Terro baits? I'll never not have some of those things handy. I had some teeny tiny ants at my last house, that stuff worked wonders!

Do not google "tickling beavers".

Hi everyone!

Here's what I'm looking at....

Nice view! Sorry you didn't have any luck. Oh I gotta send you a trail cam pic of a buck on our property! big boy.

Fire ants are such a pain in the buttocks here. Having to dodge the mounds with my CX tractor will make our field look like a green checkerboard next Spring.
Similar thing happened with Mrs. Oz not too long after we married. She had never been around chickens. The sweet little sex link roo she raised by hand tried to flog her during puberty. She still hasn't got over the "betrayal."

Armand is behaving so well lately! I think he knew I had just about had it with him!! He likes to follow alongside the fence when I walk by, but when he's out, he's good as gold. Ate out of my hand today and got one of the skittish girls to do so too!

Flock 'em if they can't take a joke...

X2! Excellent advice :D

Turk update!!!!

Her hona pullet just started laying!!! :bun

Thanks. I have friends who hatch so I am going to see if I can just borrow one to have on standby. I have incubated before but never had a very hight hatch rate. Played around with broodies the last few years and LOVED it so any hatching that has happened has been with my girls. I'll probably stick to tat since we just have them for fun anyway.

I am anxious to see "what" we get out of these. I am again going to have to go on Chicken Maury to find out about baby daddy and this time baby mamma!

She went missing sometime between the babies, I think the first was born almost 3 weeks ago?
