It will be interesting to see how it feathers out as an adult.

Very cool looking feathering!
Hope you will keep us updated!

Seems my new meatie chicks didn't like being separated from the 4 week olds in the brooder. I found a couple of escape artists this morning with the older chicks, so I removed the divider and let them mingle. Seems they are having a ball! Guess they must have read Chaos' post :p

Good stuff!

No, it's a Campine... was wondering if YOU took him home, lol...

Good morning and Merry Christmas eve pond dwellers!

The ones you brought home? BTW, tell Shade it's only a 4.5 hour drive to the next big show in Newnan, GA.
We used to live in Newnan!!!My daughter was born when we lived there. Boy it has grown around that area.

But thats making use of whats around - its amazing what one can do with it. I have to laugh when i see those fancy chicken houses that peeps have. They look great and i get it, if one has it in a twee little garden but the cost would put me in an early grave
tongue.png
The pen and the coop that i did recently are the only things that were not sourced from the garden - don't think the chickens could give two hoots to be honest. Another touch of class

Theoretically a look, no touch set up in the main coop. Actually, they are there just so they know where to sleep, so i don't have to chase them around the garden
lol.png
Come tonight they will roost with the others and deal with tomorrow in their own sweet way (it helps that they are twice the size of my existing chickens)
That's what I tell our 4H kids about building chicken coops. They don't have to be pretty, just functional and SAFE! We have so many that think about keeping the chickens in but not about keeping the predators out.

Lady Grey made the BYC headlines!!

One of our neighbors horses got out during the night and was hit by a truck . Driver's okay but the deputy had to put the poor animal down.

That is aweful!

I always worry about our camelids getting out.

On the other side of things, we have a guy who runs cattle on a lot of land around the county and has pasture that borders two sides of us. We have a dirt road that runs between and we often have uninvited "tourist" that go down the road. Anytime we see suspicious activitiy we contact him, or if we see his cattle out (which happens frequently). He dropped by unannounced yesterday and brought us a Hilshire farms gift box just to say "Thank You" for helping him keep an eye on his cattle in this area.

It was a good lesson for the kids to see that selfless acts of kindness do get rewarded.

That's cool! And yes, a good lesson for the youngens. We are good with all our neighbors, and look out for each other. My neighbors at camp have been priceless, taking care of my birds for me. I need to pick up a little thank-you something for them.
