I was invited by Ravynfallon to jump in on this thread, some of you know me already, some do not but I am always looking to meet new people who share a love of ducks I am sure she will introduce me as well since I'm still groggy from the moron drip I had today for a spinal infusion...

I have that same problem, minihorse.

I ordered zip wing bands. Stamped STONEY CREEK. Green for 2016, purple for 2017. I'm only tagging birds I keep. I like the fact the zip bands have a rivet that makes them permanent rather than the jiffy which push through and bend the tab. Those could be removed.

Anyone use wing bands? Ive been thinking of doing that instead of zip ties to mark hatch years. The zip ties I put on birds in October are faded out already :/

Thinking of doing a color each year and just stamping my farm name on them so I can recycle the unused ones however many years later. If I stamp them with the year then they are useless after that year.

I have that same problem, minihorse.

These are a bit more pricey than other zip ties, but there's a bigger selection of colors... and I've seen very little fading to the color...

I think I'm going to try to run a combo of wing bands and zip ties. Maybe tag birds both ways. I like I can easily see the zip ties whereas the wing bands are typically hidden by the feathers.
I also like the wing bands can't come off whereas zip ties do break or fall off.

I don't think my adults are gonna appreciate the wing bands
