First ever Call hatch, shipped eggs, one cracked and you pulled off 100%...

First off, they were from your super ducks, second I told ya my cabinet thinks it's a Silkie, and third your horizontal incubation and misting advice (did it twice, at 17 and 21 days) worked perfectly. All I contributed was a little electricity. They survived the 9 hour power outage just before lockdown, too.

To be fair, three hatched out effortlessly, they are the three biggest. Two got some help they probably didn't need because they got stuck after I dropped humidity removing the hatched ones. I think that chilling to 80F contributed.

#5, the tiny duck, was a full on assist and ICU baby. I was ready to cull but since I saw little signs of improvement, it stayed...and as soon as it could self-propel it went into the brooder with the big ducks.

I wish I could keep them. I have a couple days to work on DH but then they will go to a new home.

I don't ever recommend what I actually do now, lol...

yeah, I would never suggest anything I do now. Forget to turn the turner off, forget to put them on the burning tray, no water, etc.

Have you ever seen any pics of my ducklings on a tabletop???

#1 is a grey...
#2 is either a silver or variation, may be something new...
#3 is a gorgeous blue pied...
#4 is blue dusky with white eye marks...

Isn't there 2 light colored ones? Got a clear pic of the other one?

Open the incubator and remove the water... I never heard of not being able to open it in the first 24hrs before... and if I did, I wouldn't listen!

Mist or sponge them once a day and recheck them in a couple days... if you mist them, make sure the water doesn't pool somewhere in the bottom of the bator (that's what happened to Ruby) or set them on a towel next to the bator to mist and then replace... humidity will spike for a while but once it dries off the eggs it may even be lower than what it was, don't worry...

Ok, will do that this afternoon. They are in the Brinsea with no water, but the pump will occasionally kick on and drop a bit on the pad. I had it set at 30, then 27, now 25. I never even look at the number, so if it spikes, I wouldn't see it.

Out of more than 100 eggs in the incubator, I only lost 2 in the power outage. They were at all stages of development. I may end up with a higher than normal defect rate at hatch, and may have more gooey chicks because of the temp spike when the GQF controller went nuts on generator. I will be adding a backup wafer.

I'm sorry to interrupt. I have a question and cannot find an answer. I just started the incubator at 9:14 earlier this evening and the humidity level has spiked to about 70 percent and seems to be holding. I opened the vent holes on top. That brought it down to 67 percent. I read that you cannot open incubator for the first 24 hours. What should I do?
