Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well I guess I do know JACK       CHIT !!!!!!!!!!  where did you go to meet him ?????????????   and once again you didn't took me :hit

Met him at the Love's station at 65 and Bear Creek... he was going to meet up today and I would have told you when, but he decided to drive over in the middle of the night last minute, lol... was awesome to see him...

Oh, and he adores Peg!! :gig

Yes I dose . I'm posed to be filling up the cabinets now . Sliver laced  gold laced marans and EEs . I'm going to try the sanding the aircell thing on the Marans to see if more hatch . I better get back out there :frow

I can't keep up with all your breeds :D

And I saw a comment about sanding lines from air cell to pointy end, kinda like when you half peel a cucumber lengthwise. Said that made them easier to candle, and lose moisture better. I think it would be worth an experiment! Lol

I set another batch of mystery eggs today.

There is something about putting eggs in the incubator and having no idea what is going to come out of them (chicken I hope) or maybe nothing at all.

These were from an Amish farm in central Indiana.

I can't argue with that, lol... and she adored him too... my good people meter, she is... made him want Calls, but he can't have them where he lives...

:weee

:fl for good fertility and an interesting hatch! :D

I'll have to look that up, but I think Ravyn beat me to the answer. Ohiki is tiny. I put her and 2 of the self blues in with the lone silver duckwing that hatched last week. The monster LOs were already running over that tiny baby. I'm surprised it survived the week! :highfive: The three of us together, what a trio! Still awaiting the arrival on one more silver duckwing. The last 2 eggs quit. But this little group will be fun to raise.

:love The 3 of us together??? Hecks yeah!!!! :ya I mixed up one of my Silkie eggs with my Ohiki eggs, lol... had a single Silkie hatch... :gig
I have 2 Ohiki in with 7 Ameraucanas that are twice their size at the same age... First four turkey poults of the year: One always has to be not paying attention.
Adorable!!! :love Miss having poults!! :( Hope this AI blows over soon...

The ducks got their own little house today :) had to modify a few things since it was technically a chicken coop, so far the transition has been smooth :)

Made a ramp for them by removing the rungs and screwing in card board on the back and then used grip tape for traction, they LOVE playing on this!! Happy ducks, happy life
That is too awesome! Great job on it!! :thumbsup
So I have a serious question, yesterday I had a single duckling hatch, found the egg on the bank assuming that my Rougen laid it, anyway incubated it and yesterday she hatched what I assumed was 4 days early. I have 2 calls who hatched 2 weeks ago and are still really small so I figured that I would just put the single duckling in with them... WRONG!!! the calls are HORRIBLE to the new duckling, and when I say horrible, I mean they grab her with their beaks and drag her around like a rag doll. I recorded this happening because I needed to see (in slow motion) what they did and it was almost hard to watch. I would post the video but don't think y'all wanna see this :( My question is this, could the calls sense something maybe wrong with the new hatchling and are being defensive because it's a natural instinct? I'm so confused at how they both attack her, has anyone else had a problem with introducing non siblings to one another?? I'm going crazy because I have to be with this new one ALL THE TIME!!! She's not going to know she's a duck if things don't improve...
Walnut & Pyxis gave great advice, I don't have any more to add... I would do what Pyxis suggested with splitting the brooder area...

Lone ducks have a really hard time being accepted into flocks. I have never had good luck trying to introduce just one duck to an established flock. Even ducklings can bully outsiders that come alone. I would split the brooder in half with hardware cloth and put the new guy on one side so they can all see each other but the older ones can't get to it to bully it. In time hopefully they will let it into the flock.

I have them in clear containers where they see each other but can't attack :(
I'm going to end up exhausted and sick caring for this single duckling, nothing I do to give her comfort helps , she just cries and cries unless I am holding her, normally the crying goes unnoticed but the kids are home and my son is sensitive to the piercing peeps so I am going quackers over here :( I just want them to get along...

Put a feather duster in her brooder that she can go under :)

Yes!!!!!  Or even a small stuffed toy.

She has a fuzzy blanket, and stuffed fuzzy duck and as strange as this sounds, I put some of my hair I'm there and made a little nest with it mixed with shavings, IT WORKED! She nuzzled up in the shavings and my hair and feel asleep... How silly is that :(
